Position Overview

The Counselor Role

While leading a wide variety of camp activities and classes in the Drobots Company programs (Drone Camps; StemQuest Camps; Grades K-2 LEGO STEM Camps), a counselor is directly responsible for the safety, enjoyment, and emotional well-being of every camper, every minute, of every camp day. Counselors are expected to implement the supplied curriculum with integrity to guide daily camper activities.

  • Reports directly to respective Program Lead.

  • These positions are filled by young adults with a minimum of 1 year of collegiate study in a correlating field (education, tech, etc.).

Seasonal (Full Time) Summer Camp Jobs

Training and Pre-Camp Responsibility

  • Attend a mandatory weekend training (May/June), conducted at the geographical and school location (TBA).

  • Attend 2-3 weekday remote webinar trainings (May/June)

  • Complete and fulfill any company rules and regulations and curriculum-related online trainings

Technology Experience Necessary:

Little to none. Our training accommodates those with a positive attitude and the willingness to learn. However, prior experience working in or with technology-related clubs, competitions, programs, or organizations (i.e.: First Robotics, SeaPerch, or other Robotics competitions) is preferred.

Responsibilities

Job Description:

As a Drone & STEM Counselor, your primary responsibilities are:

  • To be punctual, professional, and flexible at all times

  • Work with a team of professional instructors and adults to assist and deliver the Drobots Curriculum to campers in grades in K-8

  • Assist in the supervision of camper behaviors and groups

  • Provide instructors with energy and tech support

  • Have reliable transportation to each location you are working

This position supports the program through a combination of tech and non-tech activities, suitable for this age group:

  • Maintain patience and double-check to ensure that all drones, electronics, batteries, and equipment are safe and working at all times

  • Aid in the organization and inventory of all equipment

  • Collaborate with professional Drobots instructors each day

  • Attend all trainings (remote and in-person)

Anticipated Work Hours Per Week:

32-36 hours per week

Locations & Dates:

Camps operate for 6-9 weeks between June 1 and August 28. We hire teams based on availability for the full camp schedule, so please consider your availability and your ability to arrange reliable transportation before applying. Qualifications

Drobots Expectations:

  • Strong commitment to educational programming for kids and teenagers

  • Access to reliable automobile for entire duration of the summer camp season

  • Access to a reliable mobile phone device (i.e.: iPhone, Android, etc.)

  • Strong organization skills and attention to detail

  • Flexibility to meet changing work needs and demands

  • Ability to work collaboratively on a high-functioning team

  • Openness to feedback and desire to grow professionally

  • Ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently and accurately

  • Ability to communicate clearly, maturely, and compassionately with students and families

  • Ability to maintain an excellent work ethic, a high level of energy, and exceptional enthusiasm all day, every day, for the duration of the summer

Experience & Education:

  • Entering your sophomore, junior, or senior year in college

  • 2+ years experience working in or with technology-related clubs, competitions, programs, or organizations (i.e.: First Robotics, SeaPerch, or other Robotics competitions

  • Summer camp experience (preferable, but not required)

  • Extremely outgoing and professional personality
