About This Role

As a Driving Instructor with Coastline Academy, you will be teaching the drivers of tomorrow. In a company-provided vehicle, you will educate and advise students while teaching them the fundamentals of operating a car behind the wheel. You will be responsible for planning and delivering customized lessons that promote students' theoretical and applied driving skills. Driving instructors also communicate with students to determine which of their skills require further development.

We'll assist you in obtaining the state-required driving instructor certification through our paid training program. The training consists of video sessions, self-paced reading assignments, and behind-the-wheel training in a Coastline car in your local area. All of our lessons are taught in a Coastline Car and recorded with a dashboard camera for the safety of you and your student. Our driving instructors enjoy tailoring their own schedules, keeping in mind the majority of the demand for driving lessons is in the afternoons and weekends as most of our students are on a school schedule. A typical day could consist of three, two-hour lessons with paid travel time included.

Responsibilities

  • Teaching practical skills related to all aspects of driving

  • Providing instruction on the rules of the road

  • Helping students to develop confidence in their driving skills

  • Gaining control of the vehicle during emergency situations

  • Documenting and reporting on students' progress

  • Maintaining communication with your supervisor and support team

  • Attending team meetings for updates and ongoing development

Qualifications

  • A genuine passion for helping people learn

  • Ability to remain calm in a learning environment

  • A clean, valid State Driver's License

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent

  • Ability to pass a background check, drug screen, and reference check

  • Must be at least 21 years of age

  • A strong safety mindset and strong reasoning ability

  • Ability to give clear instruction, coach, communicate effectively to others

  • Ability to focus for extended periods of time

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to sit for prolonged periods of time in a vehicle

  • Must be able to see and hear during all weather conditions

  • Must be able to bend, stoop, kneel, touch, feel

  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times

From autonomous driving behavior to user interfaces, we work to inspire the product vision and then make it a reality.</p><p>In this role you'll:</p><ul><li><p>Own and drive detailed schedule and timeline for performance evaluation methodologies and implementation in your programs to meet our monthly, quarterly and yearly evaluation goals</p></li><li><p>Help engineering teams remove barriers and gain clarity on priorities</p></li><li><p>Communicate to management results from execution, risks and path forward</p></li><li><p>Connect parallel conversations across the organization to remove duplication and ensure optimal use of time and resources</p></li><li><p>Educate multiple audiences about current state of evaluation technology and value delivered in upcoming milestones</p></li><li><p>Influence multiple teams to optimize collaboration between Product, onboard software, simulation, and systems engineering teams</p></li></ul><p>At a minimum we'd like you to have:</p><ul><li><p>STEM education or industry experience</p></li><li><p>Project management experience managing large scale portfolios: multiple concurrent projects, large engineering teams, high matrix environments</p></li><li><p>4+ years of experience in technical program management</p></li><li><p>Practical experience launching products and services commercially</p></li><li><p>Technical judgement is required to be able to effectively participate in tactical and strategic conversations to guide complicated programs, reduce chaos and uncertainty, and deliver clear messaging</p></li><li><p>Technical Program Managers are expected to tactically manage their programs by designing artifacts like spreadsheets to show timelines, progress, risks, and reduce uncertainty</p></li></ul><p>It's preferred if you have:</p><ul><li><p>Computer science background</p></li><li><p>Statistical education (ML, DS, Math)</p></li><li><p>Prior experience with autonomous driving</p></li><li><p>Prior experience with software simulation and testing tools</p></li><li><p>Practical understanding of systems engineering and safety frameworks and methodologies</p></li></ul><p>Note: The following is only applicable for roles hired in the US.
