Job Summary: Performs as an instructor in a regular classroom setting, presenting instructions in designated subject areas.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Promotes a positive and desirable atmosphere within the classroom setting to insure maximum student motivation.
Utilizes approved and applicable state driving education curriculum and resources.
Responsible for adequate classroom preparation.
Maintains student Driving records in accordance with State and Federal Law.
Creates and tracks student driving progress and reports to the Academic Manager weekly.
Tracks student daily attendance to be handed at the end of each week to the Academic Manager.
Assists students and staff in the completion of all necessary state, federal, and Job Corps forms as it relates to the driving program.
Enter students Drivers licenses, status, and permits into CIS3-G.
Work with outside agencies to effectively schedule student driving tests.
Maintains all state required certifications to conduct the duties of a Driving. Instructor for both the classroom and on the road.
Demonstrates and abides by the Company Core Values and the operating principles.
Promotes a positive and desirable atmosphere within the classroom setting to ensure maximum student motivation.
Maintains a high degree of discipline within the classroom setting in order to ensure maximum learning.
Establishes a high degree of student/instructor rapport.
Complete Evaluations of Student Program (ESP's) in a timely manner for students in assigned areas and may participate in evaluation panels. Provides other behavior and progress assessments as requested.
Maintains confidentiality but reports significant events or situations immediately through approved channels to ensure the health, safety, and well-being of students and staff. Ensures that required reporting occurs, and that students receive emergency services as needed.
Facilitates prompt and appropriate assistance to students in the event of injury, illness, or emotional trauma.
Meets individually with students assigned at a minimum of once each month documenting the meetings in case notes.
Utilizes all possible curriculum resources available.
Responsible for the maintenance of student personnel folders.
Records daily attendance.
Assists in the completion of all necessary Job Corps forms.
Responsible for ensuring that the equipment and supplies are cared for.
Accountable for the cleanliness of classrooms.
Responsible for reports required by the Manager such as student/staff hours, requisitions, and monthly student evaluations.
Assists Manager during scheduled inventory.
Perform all similar and incidental duties as assigned.
Requirements
Qualifications:
Minimum: Must hold state Driver Education certification and must maintain said certification at all times.
Preferred: One year in a teaching capacity with disadvantaged youth.
Knowledge: Knowledge of required subject area, excellent communication skills, both oral and written, excellent organizational skills, must obtain and maintain CPR/First Aid Certification, ability to motivate and inspire students, ability to effectively relate to student population.
