GENERAL DESCRIPTION

The Driver/Loader position is a generalist role performing multiple functions in the warehouse environment. Primary responsibilities center around the operation of heavy duty trucks and cargo vans including; trailer spotting, dock to dock transfer of materials, and location of bulk equipment. Additional responsibilities include preparation of materials for shipment, bulk loading, forklift operation, and other duties that support shipping and receiving of materials.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES

Driving Duties:

  • Duties will include multiple daily warehouse runs to retrieve, deliver, and stage product for pickup.

  • Other duties will include moving box trucks and container trailers when needed.

  • Estimated driving duties, 15-20 hours per week.

Shipping Duties:

  • Label and tag containers for stock and shipment.

  • Physically handle/roll drums from pallets and stage freight for shipment.

  • Band, shrink-wrap, and palletize orders for shipment.

  • Prepare totes for shipment by scraping off old labels and applying updated information.

  • Visual inspection of all totes for inventory and shipment.

  • Assemble boxes for small package shipments.

Receiving Duties:

  • Unload trucks upon arrival.

  • Sample and unload raw material bulk shipments for bulk storage tanks.

  • Locate approved material in designated storage area.

  • Daily inspection of hazardous waste tank.

Production Duties:

  • Loading finished product bulks onto bulk trailers.

  • Package finished products into specified containers.

  • Assist in the blending/packaging operation when needed.

  • Provide support to production team during blending process.

Environmental Health and Safety/Housekeeping:

  • Perform general housekeeping duties to provide a safe and clean work environment.

  • Inspection of packaged raw material inventory.

  • Evaluate pallet wear and remove non-conforming pallets from operation.

SUPPLEMENTAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Understand and execute policies and procedures that emphasize product quality.

  • Possess a thorough knowledge of plant operations and procedures.

  • Assist with training of new positions.

  • Assist with inventory counts.

  • Assist with city deliveries when needed.

  • Perform daily inventory counts.

  • Operate forklift daily.

  • Overtime as required.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • 1 to 3 years minimum CDL experience

  • Class B CDL with Hazmat Endorsement required.

  • High School Diploma or GED required

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Constantly required to sit and occasionally required to walk, stand, climb (includes stairs), balance, stoop, bend, kneel, crouch or crawl, and talk, hear, and smell

  • Constantly using hands and fingers to handle, feel or operate objects, and computer keyboards, feel or operate objects, tools or controls, and operate forklift.

  • Routinely required to reach with hands and arms, squat, turn/twist, or reach, lift, carry, push, or pull up to 75 pounds and sometimes required to maneuver drums weighing 250-800 pounds

  • Required to be medically cleared to wear a respirator.

  • Required to able to physically access each of the manufacturing operation's areas to perform the essential job functions.

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus

WORKING CONDITIONS & ENVIRONMENT

  • This is a specialty chemical blending and packaging facility where hazardous materials are present.

  • Will be subjected to moving mechanical parts, electrical currents, vibrations, fumes, odors, dusts, gases, chemicals, oils, extreme temperatures and work space restrictions.

  • Required to wear the proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) which may include: eye, hearing and respiratory protection, protective apron, steel toe shoes, gloves, hard hats, or face shields.

  • The noise level in the work environment is occasionally loud.

  • Contact lenses may not be allowed in some areas.
