Responsible for providing transportation of residents to various locations. Drives residents to doctor's appointments, has on-call availability, and coordinates necessary vehicle maintenance. Typically has a Commercial Drivers License, Class B with passenger endorsement.
Under the direction of the Activity Director, Executive Director, or Business Director drives residents to scheduled trips and events. May
assist Activity Director with other in-house activities. Is an Ambassador of good-will to all residents, their guests and families; performs
the timely and safe delivery of residents in accordance to transportation schedules; maintains company vehicle fleet in excellent
mechanical and physical condition and assists as directed with activity programming.
Customer Service, Team working Quality Improvement
Interacts with residents, families, staff, and other visitors in a pleasant, respectful, and courteous manner.
Acts as a positive representative of community at au times.
Assists in organizing groups of residents for each scheduled activity.
Responsible for picking up and delivering residents to routed stops. Assists residents in and out of vehicles.
Operates vehicles in a safe and clean fashion.
May assist Activity Director with in-house activities including planning and organizing, arranging furniture, decorating and
the general set up for activity programs.
Complies with Federal and State regulations relative to resident rights issues and quality of life issues.
Customer Service, Team working Quality Improvement, continued
Ensures that residents are free from abuse (physical verbal and sexual), mistreatment and neglect. Reports any such
instance to the Executive Director.
In Service Education
Attends all in-service education programs mandated by CSL, State or Federal guidelines which includes necessary
testing for renewal and maintenance of CDL license endorsement.
Risk Management, Safety and infection Control
Knowledgeable of Rules of the Road issues mandated by Corporate, State, and Federal Guidelines.
Reports all accidents/incidents and hazardous conditions/equipment, as established by department policies as well as
local authorities.
Examines and analyzes with the Executive Director any accidents/crashes to determine future avoid ability.
Disposes of waste in accordance with established policies.
Demonstrates knowledge of emergency policies and procedures.
Follows established guidelines when using equipment, supplies and chemicals.
Demonstrates knowledge of infection control throughout the community.
Complies with safe food handling procedures.
Reports all exposures in accordance with OSHA and CSL guidelines, policies and procedures.
Has a working knowledge of the components of the vehicle that is being driven in order to assess necessary repairs or
adjustments.
Maintains a daily vehicle walk-around and safety inspection ensuring that all fluid levels are at manufacturer specs, tire air
pressure at appropriate and safe levels and there are no hazards with the vehicle itself that could pose a threat to riders.
Ensures that preventative and routine scheduled maintenance is arranged in accordance to manufacturer requirements
and company schedules.
Maintains the vehicles in clean and organized condition.
Residents Rights
Provides privacy and maintains the confidentiality of all resident information in accordance to HIPP A regulations.
Ensures care and security of residents personal possessions.
Reports all complaints and grievances made by residents, family members and visitors to the Activity Director.
Ensures the residents are free from abuse (physical, mental and sexual), mis-treatment and neglect and reports any such
instance to the Executive Director.
KNOWLEDGE
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or General Education Diploma (GED) is required. Minimum of one-year successful experience
operating a bus is required. Prior experience working with seniors preferred.
As required by law, has a valid driver's license. CDL endorsement preferred and required where necessary.
Skill/ knowledge requirements:
Ability to interact effectively with residents, their families, visitors, and other staff members.
Ability to communicate effectively, in writing as well as verbally. Willing to work on weekends, holidays and evenings,
when necessary.
Ability to work in all weather conditions.
Physical Requirements
Ability to bend, push, pull, and ER in excess of 50lbs, as necessary to perform required tasks as assigned throughout
the workday.
Working knowledge necessary to operate tools such as wrenches, sockets, tire jacks, crowbars and jumper cables.
