Larimer County Road and Bridge is looking for hardworking, motivated individuals to join our team. The Road and Bridge Department is responsible for operating and maintaining the transportation system in Larimer County; the Seasonal Driver positions serve a vital role in our ability to successfully meet this responsibility.

The typical schedule for this position is 7am - 5:30pm Monday to Thursday. This is a temporary position that will be assigned across multiple locations. This position is expected to last 5 months. Employees are required to wear steel-toe safety shoes, which they must provide themselves. Additionally, this position may qualify for medical insurance benefits.

Responsibilities

Specifically, this position:

• Helps to operate our fleet of +40 CDL/CMV vehicles and will be involved with the following operations; gravel road maintenance, chip seal, drainage maintenance, and many other road maintenance/road construction activities.

• Operates a tandem axle water truck supporting gravel road maintenance operations; operates a tandem axle dump truck hauling construction materials from and to project sites; operates a Class A tractor/trailer tanker delivering asphalt emulsion to chip seal project site.

• Operates heavy construction equipment as assigned.

• Performs physical labor for extended periods of time outdoors in all weather conditions, day or night, including activities and physical demands requiring strength to lift, carry, push, pull, and otherwise move objects of up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.

We are looking for a candidate that will:

• Demonstrate consistent and reliable attendance.

• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with other County employees,

representatives of other agencies and organizations, and members of the community.

• Understand principles, practices, and techniques of heavy highway construction and

maintenance.

• Read and comprehend department and County rules, regulations,

policies and standard operating procedures.

• Operate Larimer County approved computer programs, as needed.

Qualifications

All candidates will be screened for the following required minimum qualifications. Any candidate who does not meet all of the qualifications listed as required will be eliminated from the process.

• Related experience preferred.

• Ability to obtain a Colorado Flaggers Certification within two (2) weeks of employment required.

• Possession of a valid driver license required.

• Must be at least 18 years of age on date of hire, required.

• Safety-toe shoes, required.

• Possession of, and ability to maintain a class 'B' or a class 'A' commercial driver license (CDL) without the following restrictions: 'L' -air brake restriction, 'O' -no/Trctr/Trlr restriction(s), 'E' -No manual transmission, 'X'-No cargo in CMV tank vehicle or 'Z' - No full air brake equipped CMV required.

• Ability to obtain 'N' Tank endorsement by date of hire required.

If selected for this job title and offered a position within the Road and Bridge Department, the candidate will be required to comply with all Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration's (FMCSA) regulations and the Colorado Rules and Regulations Concerning the Minimum Standards for the Operation of Commercial Vehicles.
