1.High School Diploma or G.E.D. 2. Possession of a valid California Class B driver license, an unrestricted California Special Driver Certificate for operating a school bus and a valid Unrestricted California School Bus Driver Instructor Certificate. 3.

Job Summary

The West County Transportation Agency is a Joint Powers Agency formed of seventeen school districts in Western Sonoma County. Our primary responsibility is to provide cooperative, centralized, cost efficient, safe and child-centered school transportation to the students of these school districts.

The Agency serves approximately 8,000 students daily on over 115 routes, 80 of which are Special Education. We are a dynamic and growing Agency with a culture that is focused on excellence and creativity in all aspects of our service. We are situated in Santa Rosa, California an hour north of San Francisco and the Bay Area.

Our routes encompass a variety of geography and include apple orchards, redwood forests, the Russian River, and coastal areas. This is a full-time, year-round position and the incumbent will report to the Transportation Supervisor. The driver instructor will collaborate with a Lead Driver instructor, other full-time driver instructors and several delegated behind the wheel instructors to develop instructional programs for original and renewal school bus drivers, create in-service programs that are interesting, informative and focus on Agency needs, maintain driver training files in a manual and automated format, and conduct classroom, in-service, and behind-the-wheel training.

Starting salary will be based on experience between $31.46 up to $47.76 per hour with excellent health, dental, and vision benefits for the employee and dependents. The Agency pays for a $50,000 life insurance policy for employees only, plus paid vacation time, accumulated sick leave, and CalPERS retirement package.
