SUMMARY

Seeking Individual to operate drilling equipment to extract rock samples and conduct drilling operations in an aggregate quarry. This role is crucial in quarrying operations. Must be dedicated and willing to learn and build a career while exceeding the highest quality of safety standards.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Utilize drilling machinery, such as drill rigs, to bore holes into the earth's surface within designated quarry areas. Ensure proper setup, calibration, and maintenance of drilling equipment to optimize performance and efficiency.

  • Extract rock samples from drilled holes for geological analysis and quality assessment. Handle samples carefully to preserve their integrity and ensure accurate testing.

  • Participate in the planning and development of quarry sites, providing input on optimal drilling locations and techniques to maximize resource extraction and minimize environmental impact.

  • Adhere to safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and colleagues. Conduct regular inspections of equipment and work areas to identify and address potential hazards.

  • Maintain awareness of environmental regulations and best practices related to quarrying operations. Take proactive measures to minimize disturbance to natural habitats and mitigate any environmental impact caused by drilling activities.

  • Coordinate with quarry managers, geologists, and other team members to ensure smooth operations and efficient resource extraction. Communicate effectively to convey progress, issues, and recommendations related to drilling activities.

  • Perform routine maintenance tasks on drilling equipment to ensure proper functionality and prevent breakdowns. Report any mechanical issues promptly to facilitate timely repairs and minimize downtime.

  • Maintain accurate records of drilling activities, including drill locations, depths, and rock characteristics. Compile data for reporting purposes and contribute to the assessment of quarry productivity and resource reserves.

  • Be aware of other equipment and personnel working in the area.

  • Possess the ability to follow instructions with strong oral and written skills.

  • Display a professional and courteous attitude to co-workers and supervisors.

  • Report to assigned job area in proper attire and ready to begin work at the designated start time.

  • Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in policies and procedures manual, and MSHA guidelines.

  • Possess a strong work ethic and commitment to excellence.

  • Desire to learn and commitment to working safely.

  • Flexibility to work various schedules and stay late when necessary with little or no notice.

  • Must be willing to work evenings and weekends when necessary.

  • Mechanically inclined preferred. Position assists with plant repairs, breakdowns, etc.

  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS

High school diploma or equivalent qualification required. Additional technical training or certification in drilling operations preferred.

  • Prior experience operating drilling equipment in a quarry or mining environment is highly advantageous.

  • Proficiency in following safety protocols and adhering to regulatory requirements.

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills for equipment maintenance and repairs.

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

  • Knowledge of welding and general mechanics preferred.
