Job Description

Under the direction of the Maintenance Planning Supervisor, the Drill & Shovel Planner is responsible for the effective execution of the maintenance plan as per the Kinross Way for Managing Maintenance program.

Maintenance Planning/Scheduling is the process of ensuring work is ready for execution with all resources and access requirements (e.g. equipment will be ready and isolated, parts are received etc.) in place, so the work can be performed safely and efficiently. The Drill & Shovel Planner also ensures that the material and resources are available and communicates this information with all concerned parties in Maintenance and Operations. This work is critical to the success of the overall mine operations in general and the maintenance function in particular.

Maintenance Planners will monitor the process of identifying work and regularly provide integrity feedback and statistics for their planning area and calculate performance measures in accordance with the Kinross Way.

Job Responsibilities

  • Develop maintenance strategies that ensure production goals are maintained

  • Maintain up to date history for each piece of equipment

  • Schedule work orders related to routine maintenance (predictive and preventive) and corrective maintenance, identifying and securing the required resources (maintainers, materials, spare parts, tools, instruments and equipment), time involved, safety recommendations, procedures and technical information

  • Select and Prioritize each work orders

  • Monitor and control the equipment backlog

  • Develop and validate with operations the weekly maintenance schedule

  • Manage and close work orders as needed in coordination with Maintenance Supervisor

  • Analyze the deviations reported by maintenance supervisors, identifying the causes and propose corrective actions to minimize and / or update maintenance plans

  • Suggest updates of Bill of Materials (BOM's) and Associated Part Lists (APL's) based on information supplied by field maintenance and supplies

  • Maintain a high commitment to personal safety and integrity of the environment and equipment during the planning of work orders

  • Recommend the updating of the maintenance guidelines in accordance with information provided by maintenance supervisors and supplies (materials, parts and times)

  • Participate in the application of Reliability Methodologies for supporting the continuous improvement of maintenance strategies (RCM, RCA, FMECA, Criticality analysis, etc.)

  • Compliance with all company policies and procedures including but not limited to safety, confidentiality and environmental policies

Qualifications and Skill Requirements

  • Thorough understanding of JD Edwards Enterprise Asset Management (EAM), work management and scheduling business processes as per the Kinross Way

  • Good math and problem solving skills

  • Mechanical understanding of mining and heavy equipment to support effective decision making in overall business management. Specifically Drills & Shovels (Hydraulic & Electric) Preferred

  • Must be proficient in CMMS company proprietary software, including Microsoft Office Applications, JD Edwards and MS Project.

  • Create & Maintain Excel spreadsheets, trackers as needed

  • Previous experience in Xeras Budgeting Software

  • Basic data analytics

  • Comprehensive understanding of condition monitoring information such as oil analysis, magnetic plug inspections, and oil filter inspections. Interpret these results and form corrective action plans to minimize breakdowns and maximize value.

  • High School Diploma/ Trade School Preferred.

  • Must have maintenance background as a Journeyman mechanic.

  • Minimum of three years' experience in planning and scheduling mobile equipment maintenance Functions in the mining industry.

  • Ability to work under pressure and manage time effectively with little supervision.

  • Requires valid driver's license.

Job Description The mechanic is responsible for the general mechanical maintenance of shovels and drills while continuously aligning daily functions to reflect Kinross' values. Job Responsibilities * Obey all MSHA and BMGC safety rules. * Safely maintain a fleet of P&H electric shovels, Hitachi 5500 hydraulic shovel, Atlas Copco, and Sandvik drills. * Carry out all scheduled maintenance, act quickly to rectify and complete repairs due to unscheduled maintenance. * Participate in continuous improvement initiatives in a positive manner. * Responsible for reporting in writing details of work activities at the completion of every job in work orders and turn over notes. * Accurately diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical problems on heavy equipment. * Make repairs in a timely fashion in order to get the job done and reduce downtime. * Order parts accurately, and complete all necessary paperwork involved. * Works with Maintenance Personnel to repair mining equipment with the least amount of machinery downtime possible to effectively repair the equipment. * Accurately troubleshoot all mechanical problems on machinery and parts to be repaired. * Performs all work assigned to him in a safe, well managed, manner, and assures that the area is safe for mechanics and other employees to work. * Returns well-documented, and accurately completed work orders in a timely manner. * Keeps in active communication with the Maintenance Supervisor and other crews to coordinate work and provide updates on work in progress. * Compliance with all company policies and procedures including, but not limited to safety, environmental, confidentiality and code of conduct. * Meets or exceeds established performance expectations set by management. * Consistently exercises discretion and judgment in job performance. * Works without risk or harm to self and others. * Punctuality and regular attendance required. * Helps develop other department personnel to perform duties listed above. Qualifications and Skill Requirements * Three (3) years' experience in related field preferred. * A high level of hydraulics and electrical skills required. * Should have strong mechanical aptitude, and knowledge of all machinery under his/her maintenance. * Able to read and understand hydrological and electrical schematics. * Be familiar with engine and powertrain design and function. * Must have a working knowledge of all tools and equipment necessary to work in the Maintenance department. * Must be able to solve problems effectively in a variety of areas, including mechanical issues. * Ability to work in a team environment with minimal supervision. * Ability to perform basic welding and cutting. * Ability to operate various equipment including forklifts and service trucks. * Ability to work in all weather conditions. * Possesses good communication and interpersonal skills. * General understanding of mining operations, as well as limited understanding of milling and maintenance operations. * Working knowledge and skill with P.C. utilizing word processing, spreadsheet, database, and presentation software. * Strong verbal, written, analytical and persuasive skills and the ability to interact effectively with all levels of employees and management. * Ability to work independently and also as a member of the management team. * Demonstrates strong administrative, organizational and technical writing skills. * Ability to maintain an inventory of personal tools to complete the required job. * Willing to work overtime days when the need warrants. * Must be 18 years old and presently authorized to work in the United States on a full time basis. * Requires valid driver's license.
