GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB: Provide project management and design capabilities for Product Management. Assist Product Manager in the development of production and operation cost data, product costing/pricing, sales tools, training materials, etc.


  • Learn about aggregate industry, equipment, processes and what adds value to customers operations.

  • Assist in preparing new product proposals and conceptual designs that clearly define new equipment configuration, intended application, prototype tests programs, cost and sales targets.

  • Assist the marketing group with creation, maintenance and organization of sales tools and market research.

  • Identify current and future customer requirements by establishing personal rapport with potential and actual customers and other persons in a position to understand requirements.

  • Contribute to product managements effectiveness by identifying short term and long range issues that must be addressed; recommend options and courses of action; implement directives

  • Participate in and lead focus groups as required

  • Maintain open and effective communications with management, sales & marketing, engineering, service, manufacturing departments, vendors, and customers.

  • Research competitive information and maintain database

  • Conduct production and application tests to gather empirical data

  • Attend and/or present at trade shows and other product demonstrations

  • Assist with post sale follow-up.

  • Assist in the development of training information, programs, and sales tools to transfer equipment and applications knowledge to JCI staff and other appropriate management within KPI-JCI & Astec Mobile Screens group, dealer personnel and customers.

  • Assist in gathering information to communicate with engineering, production, and service in areas of improved equipment design and cost reduction based on customer needs, equipment performance and competitive features.

  • Other office duties as necessary


  • Minimum two-year degree in Mechanical Design/Drafting, or Engineering Technology.

  • AutoCAD/Inventor (or comparable software) knowledge and experience with 3D design software required. Must be experienced in Microsoft Office software.

  • Ability to read, analyze, interpret scientific/technical journals, financial reports and legal documents.

  • Must have strong communication skills and ability to interact with both internal and external customers in a professional manner.

  • Must have the ability to make presentations to small and large groups.

  • Required to visit construction, quarry and industrial sites with exposure to dust, noise and weather elements; must be physically able to climb ladders and stairways to access equipment.

  • Willing to travel worldwide by air and auto as required (+- 12 weeks per year), have valid driver license, be able to obtain a passport and must have the financial means to travel when required.

Assesses options and consults with HR Manager and other Managers to determine content of training plans. Maintains training records. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: * Consults with department Managers and Supervisors to assess training needs. * Researches courses available in ToolingU and Skillsoft for relevancy. * With direction, develops a training plan for all positions at JCI. * Develops a training calendar for new hires. * Schedules the appropriate training room time and provides basic computer skills support to users. * Assigns courses to groups of employees from ToolingU and Skillsoft. * Monitors pace of training, sending reminders to employees and their Manager as needed. * Maintains training records. * Assists with new hire onboarding. * Prepares and distributes training aids such as instructional material, handouts, evaluation forms, visual aids. * Promotes training and development to all employees as a key strategy to drive the business forward. * Conducts additional presentations when necessary. * Represents JCI at career fairs, job fairs and similar events. * Provides front desk coverage approximately 2 hours per week. * Other duties as assigned. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: None MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS: * High school diploma or GED required. Some college level courses would be preferred. * Intermediate level MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint skills required * Requires strong written and verbal skills. * Ability to present to small, medium and large groups of people. * Strong customer service skills. * Maintain confidential information as it relates to employees.
