GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB: Provide project management and design capabilities for Product Management. Assist Product Manager in the development of production and operation cost data, product costing/pricing, sales tools, training materials, etc.


  • Learn about aggregate industry, equipment, processes and what adds value to customers operations.

  • Assist in preparing new product proposals and conceptual designs that clearly define new equipment configuration, intended application, prototype tests programs, cost and sales targets.

  • Assist the marketing group with creation, maintenance and organization of sales tools and market research.

  • Identify current and future customer requirements by establishing personal rapport with potential and actual customers and other persons in a position to understand requirements.

  • Contribute to product managements effectiveness by identifying short term and long range issues that must be addressed; recommend options and courses of action; implement directives

  • Participate in and lead focus groups as required

  • Maintain open and effective communications with management, sales & marketing, engineering, service, manufacturing departments, vendors, and customers.

  • Research competitive information and maintain database

  • Conduct production and application tests to gather empirical data

  • Attend and/or present at trade shows and other product demonstrations

  • Assist with post sale follow-up.

  • Assist in the development of training information, programs, and sales tools to transfer equipment and applications knowledge to JCI staff and other appropriate management within KPI-JCI & Astec Mobile Screens group, dealer personnel and customers.

  • Assist in gathering information to communicate with engineering, production, and service in areas of improved equipment design and cost reduction based on customer needs, equipment performance and competitive features.

  • Other office duties as necessary


  • Minimum two-year degree in Mechanical Design/Drafting, or Engineering Technology.

  • AutoCAD/Inventor (or comparable software) knowledge and experience with 3D design software required. Must be experienced in Microsoft Office software.

  • Ability to read, analyze, interpret scientific/technical journals, financial reports and legal documents.

  • Must have strong communication skills and ability to interact with both internal and external customers in a professional manner.

  • Must have the ability to make presentations to small and large groups.

  • Required to visit construction, quarry and industrial sites with exposure to dust, noise and weather elements; must be physically able to climb ladders and stairways to access equipment.

  • Willing to travel worldwide by air and auto as required (+- 12 weeks per year), have valid driver license, be able to obtain a passport and must have the financial means to travel when required.

The Director of Imaging Instrument Product Management is responsible for developing and implementing product strategies to accelerate the growth of the Imaging, Labeling and Detections (ILD) business segment. Reporting to the Strategic Business Segment General Manager for the ILD Business, the Product Manager Direcdtor will be managing a multi-million-dollar product portfolio with global responsibility, and supporting market analysis, planning, and commercial strategies. What will you do? * Development and execution of a strategic growth plan for the imaging instrument portfolio. * Driving a coordinated product development process across functions for this portfolio, from concept through to commercialization. * Lead, coach & manage a team of product managers to execute on the defined operating plans. Experience managing a cost center needed. * Creativity to distill customer requirements, understands competitive strengths and weaknesses, and then develops compelling value propositions. * Drive for results and the ability to measure the progress of initiatives. * Ability to work with teams across the global and cultural differences. * Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) in life sciences, PhD preferred, MBA preferred * 7-10 years relevant experience, including experience in life sciences or diagnostics marketing, product management, market research, or strategy consulting The position can be based in our Bothell, WA or Eugene, OR location.
