GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB: Provide project management and design capabilities for Product Management. Assist Product Manager in the development of production and operation cost data, product costing/pricing, sales tools, training materials, etc.


  • Learn about aggregate industry, equipment, processes and what adds value to customers operations.

  • Assist in preparing new product proposals and conceptual designs that clearly define new equipment configuration, intended application, prototype tests programs, cost and sales targets.

  • Assist the marketing group with creation, maintenance and organization of sales tools and market research.

  • Identify current and future customer requirements by establishing personal rapport with potential and actual customers and other persons in a position to understand requirements.

  • Contribute to product managements effectiveness by identifying short term and long range issues that must be addressed; recommend options and courses of action; implement directives

  • Participate in and lead focus groups as required

  • Maintain open and effective communications with management, sales & marketing, engineering, service, manufacturing departments, vendors, and customers.

  • Research competitive information and maintain database

  • Conduct production and application tests to gather empirical data

  • Attend and/or present at trade shows and other product demonstrations

  • Assist with post sale follow-up.

  • Assist in the development of training information, programs, and sales tools to transfer equipment and applications knowledge to JCI staff and other appropriate management within KPI-JCI & Astec Mobile Screens group, dealer personnel and customers.

  • Assist in gathering information to communicate with engineering, production, and service in areas of improved equipment design and cost reduction based on customer needs, equipment performance and competitive features.

  • Other office duties as necessary


  • Minimum two-year degree in Mechanical Design/Drafting, or Engineering Technology.

  • AutoCAD/Inventor (or comparable software) knowledge and experience with 3D design software required. Must be experienced in Microsoft Office software.

  • Ability to read, analyze, interpret scientific/technical journals, financial reports and legal documents.

  • Must have strong communication skills and ability to interact with both internal and external customers in a professional manner.

  • Must have the ability to make presentations to small and large groups.

  • Required to visit construction, quarry and industrial sites with exposure to dust, noise and weather elements; must be physically able to climb ladders and stairways to access equipment.

  • Willing to travel worldwide by air and auto as required (+- 12 weeks per year), have valid driver license, be able to obtain a passport and must have the financial means to travel when required.

You will be working as part of a team in order to transform design concepts into manufacturable products. You will create design layouts, 3D models, production drawings, concept development and product improvement for cost reduction and optimized manufacturability. What you will be doing: * Preparing layouts, 3D modelling and detail drawings including multiple views and the application of mathematics and physics to compute weights, load capacities, dimensions, material quantities and to make other related decisions as required. * Researching, designing and evaluating mechanical products, systems and processes using engineering principles and developing structural designs while considering relative costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate one. * Specifying system components or direct modifications of systems to ensure conformance with engineering design. * Working as part of a high functioning team to resolve system issues and provide technical information.You will make recommendations for design modifications to eliminate system malfunctions and Conduct research that tests or analyzes the design, operation, or performance of equipment. You will also be writing performance requirements for systems and/or specific equipment. * Identifying measures or indicators of system performance and the actions needed to improve or correct performance, relative to the goals of the system. * Accumulating information and preparing reports, spreadsheets, etc., for product process costing, materials usage and Bills of Materials (BOMs). * Actively communicating with downstream customers on specification work, such as purchasing, manufacturing and others to ensure understanding of expectations as defined by engineering specifications. What you will bring: * A Bachelor's Degree in a technical and/or engineering field, preferably Mechanical Engineering with experience in fabrication and 3D solid modeling. * Experience with AutoDesk Inventor, SolidWorks or equivalent design software.
