Drafter – Architectural Metal Panels – Base Salary to 85k/year – Allegan, MI
Our client is a Michigan-based developer, engineer, fabricator, and installer of architectural and ornamental metals. They deal largely in aluminum and composite cladding components for building envelopes, column covers, facades, and interior spaces. They are a nationally growing company that prides themselves on providing innovative and elegant custom solutions to their clients.
In this role, the Drafter will be responsible for developing project shop, field, and production drawings out of their Michigan office. The Drafter will be expected to communicate effectively between the shop and field, as well as with customers. Proficient AutoCAD skills in construction are required, preferably in aluminum cladding, although curtain walls and glazing experience also translate well.
Responsibilities:
Read and interpret construction drawings and specifications at various stages of design, including concept, schematic design, design development, and construction documents
Prepare detailed drawings per project estimates for various project types
Develops and organizes Quantity Take Offs (QTO) for ease of audit
Interact with trade contractors
Review and develop shop drawings, detailing, and estimates to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with scope of work
Document management and organization, prepare notes and meeting minutes
Engineer and coordinate with teammates on company shop drawing, estimating methods, and preparation documents
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred
Construction design experience required, or equivalent internship experience in a construction design setting
Fluent in AutoCAD and developing drawings and details
Ability to work from the office in Allegan, MI and travel occasionally as needed
