Join Our Team as a Downtown Manager for the City of Burlington!
Are you ready to take the lead in managing the heart of our Downtown? We're seeking a dedicated individual to oversee the day-to-day operations of our Downtown - a 16 block municipal service district (MSD). As the Downtown Manager, you'll play a crucial role in variousdowntown development-related activities, project management, non-profit partner coordination event planning and execution, communications and support services for Downtown Burlington, its businesses, property owners and visitors.
Expected Hiring Range:$52,512.46 -$57,763.70. A starting salary above the range listed may be considered for highly qualified individuals not to exceed the maximum of the grade.
Examples of Duties
Organizing and managing a non-profit Board of Directors and multiple volunteer committees to accomplish NC Main Street objectives.
Maintain compliance with all required components for continued Main Street accreditation
Coordination and planning with other City departments, the Alamance Chamber of Commerce, Burlington Downtown Corporation, educational institutions and local/state/federal agencies to facilitate various initiatives or events.
Developing and maintaining positive relationships with downtown merchants and corporate partners.
Oversight of the budget and grant program(s) of the municipal service district and the Burlington Downtown Corporation.
Works with public and private sector organizations in beautification, cleanliness, public improvement projects, events, public art, and marketing initiatives.
Prepares a comprehensive annual report and marketing brochures/publications as needed.
Writing and creative activities to include website, marketing, promotional and presentation related work.
Responding to inquiries for available buildings, events, or media interest.
Qualifications
Knowledge of local government laws and regulations.
Understanding of the principals of economic development.
Considerable knowledge of social media promotion, destination marketing, and public relations.
Demonstrated ability to maintain effective working relationships with City officials, non-profit board members, volunteers, other public officials, employees, developers, corporate agents, local/state/fed representatives, and the general public.
Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Economic Development, Communications, or a related field, with at least three (3) years in a professional office environment (preferably in government or non-profit) with experience in communication and project management; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.
Valid North Carolina Driver License
Ability to travel and work irregular hours as activities demand, including evening and weekend events.

Physical Requirements
Work in this class is described as being somewhat sedentary with some physical exertion to complete tasks during event prep, set-up, and breakdown.
Work typically involves the ability to physically perform the basic life operational functions of reaching, standing, walking, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing and repetitive motions.
Employee regularly operates a variety of machinery and equipment, including telephones, computers, calculators, copiers, facsimile machines, etc.
Work necessitates visual acuity to determine the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of work assigned in preparing and analyzing figures, accounting, transcription, computer terminal viewing and extensive reading.
