Job Description

In your new position you will be responsible for the following:

  • Operates and maintains production equipment as it relates to purification and solution preparation including analytical instrumentation to support downstream activities and in-process testing.

  • Performs a variety of complex tasks under general guidance and in accordance with cGMPs.

  • Responsible for drafting of batch records and SOPs, executing, documenting and reviewing data, and review and approval of manufacturing documents according to cGMP guidelines.

  • Maintain records to comply with regulatory requirements.

  • Initiates deviations, assesses product quality impact, and proposes, owns and executes Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA).

  • Change owner for implementation or revision of equipment, documentation, and material specifications.

  • Maintains daily work schedule and relevant resource requirements.

  • Proposes implementation of improvements to optimize manufacturing processes. Monitor processes and results and suggest methods to ensure process success.


General Responsibilities:

  • Transparent and adheres to quality standards set by regulations and cGMP policies, procedures and mission.


Qualifications/Skills Required:

Minimum Experience

  • Associates degree with a minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience in downstream purification processes for monoclonal antibodies or other biological drugs.

  • Knowledge of Purification process steps including Chromatography, normal-flow filtration, virus filtration and UF/DF and solution preparation.

  • Experienced with manufacturing of drug substance following SOPs and batch records within a cGMP regulated environment.

  • Knowledge of specific product-related operations in downstream purification.

  • Skilled in downstream production independently with limited supervision.

  • Ability to ensure that plans and resources (people, facilities, supplies etc.) are efficiently utilized to ensure uninterrupted supply of products produced.

  • Occasional off shift work and weekend work will be required.

  • 1st shift and/or possible swing shift, if necessary to meet manufacturing process schedule.

  • On-call required for acknowledging alarms from equipment during off shift hours.

Qualifications/Skills Preferred:

  • Preferred BS degree in Chemical Engineering, Biotechnology, Biology, Chemistry or related Engineering discipline with 3 plus years purification process development experience, or MS with at least 2 years' experience in downstream purification process development in addition to the required manufacturing and supervisory experience.

  • Ability to observe technical issues and direct troubleshooting of process and equipment problems.

  • Ability to operate with minimal supervision of complex systems and equipment and optimizes their use in manufacturing in accordance with the cGMPs.

  • Ability to work on complex assignments of diverse scope and ability to exercise judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate actions.

For more information, visit The Lead Analyst - EMSI, is responsible for handling multiple global External Manufacturers (EM's) for DePuy Synthes (DPS) and is directly accountable for the flawless integration of supply. They will work cross-functionally to implement supplier-facing initiatives that ensure business continuity, quality, compliance, and supplier OTIF. This role is responsible to execute and monitor both tactical and continuous improvement initiatives in the areas of Plan, New Product Introduction, and Technical Operations. Each analyst is expected to own the resolution of both short-term and structural issues with the supplier and DPS support functions for finished goods, packaging, and sterilization. As the EMSI Lead Analyst, you will: * Be responsible for the seamless integration of EM supply with vendors of moderate to low size and complexity. * Ensure EM capability, including risk profile, meets the short and long-term business and customer requirements of DPS. * As representative of DPS, ensure the EM has the vital information to deliver quality products consistently and on-time. This includes the implementation and closure of supplier change orders (SCR) and other required documentation. * Monitor and develop EM key performance indicators such as lead-time, on-time delivery, Backorders, S&OP attainment, SCR closure, and risk composite scores. * Support the development and implementation of proactive risk mitigation activities with both the EM and their extended supply chain partners. * Represent EM to internal partners as part of the STEM (short-term event management) and Supply Chain Launch Readiness processes in order to prioritize, lead and handle the resolution of supply issues. * Provides input into the DPS EM/External Operations Supply S&OP process. * Coordinate the short, medium, and long-term synchronization of supply and demand for their group of suppliers. This may necessitate implementation of S&OP meetings. Ensure organizationally aligned incentives between DPS and suppliers and raise opportunities for enhancement. * Support/Coordinate the deployment of supplier development/Operations Excellence engagements & resources across the supplier that improve right first time, lead time, machine down time, Backorders & OTD. * Tactical management of the hand-off of supplier planning outputs / parameters that are used to generate global supply requirements and Regional service commitments. * Facilitate cross-functional decision making as it pertains to trade-offs within the EM network. * Assist in the conversion of DPS net requirements into an attainable supply plan for EM products. * Collaborates in the following areas: inventory, service, and cost optimization (MOQ's), lead time reduction, optimization of order quantities, capacity analysis, scenario planning, supplier performance measurement, annual business planning cycle Qualifications * A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in a Business-related field of study, Supply Chain, Logistics Sciences or Engineering field is required. * A minimum of 6 years of working experience is required. * A minimum of 4 years of direct experience within Supplier Relationship Management, Planning, or Manufacturing Operations, preferably within the medical device industry. * A background in Operational Excellence (Lean / Six-Sigma) is helpful. * Firm understanding of E2E supply chain with an emphasis on Planning and constraint management is preferred. * Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) is required; SAP or JDE is preferred. * Proven ability to work cross-functionally is required. * Strong written and oral communication, influencing, and negotiation skills are required. * A positive, customer-focused, and collaborative approach to problem solving is required. * Ability to develop data, metrics and analytics to generate insights for continuous improvement is required. * Ability to work independently and with urgency in a global supply chain environment is required. * Ability to travel up to 10% of the time to domestic external supplier sites is required.
