Position Summary
Construction and Construction Technology Chief
This position is responsible for managing and development of the Department's construction standards, including the Standard Specifications for Road and Bridge Construction, Supplement Specifications for Road and Bridge Construction, and Construction and Materials Manual. This position provides leadership and management to implement all aspects of IT Systems and associated processes and policies for the construction phases of project delivery. The section is also responsible for researching and selecting the appropriate IT systems; conducting development projects for system upgrades and new systems; operating, maintaining and enhancing the systems; developing user guidance and policies; and providing user training and support.
Alternative Contracting and Local Program Chief
This position is also responsible for managing the development of the Department's alternative contracting policies as well as project identification, providing guidance to regions in the Design Build process. In the local program, the position provides support for region oversight, financial planning, budget management, performance measurement, program implementation, and policy and procedure development.
Salary Information
This position is in pay schedule/pay range 81-02. The starting salary is between $87,360 and $116,314 annually, depending on qualifications.
Pay for current employees will be in accordance with the compensation plan. A 2 year career executive trial period is required.

RELOCATION INCENTIVE: The Compensation Plan permits granting a one-time Relocation Incentive Award to employees who relocate as a result of promotion or transfer and expense reimbursement in any dollar increment up to an amount equal to 125% of the monthly minimum for this position in the pay plan. Moving expenses may also be awarded to the selected candidates.
Certain positions within this Department may allow remote/work from home flexibility for a portion of their work schedule, depending on the needs of the position and the work unit. This topic and any remote work flexibility that may be available will be discussed in more detail in the interview process. For permanent positions that allow remote work flexibility, it is not anticipated that working outside of Wisconsin (or bordering cities) will be allowed because positions may need to report to office locations in Wisconsin on short notice.
Qualifications
Qualified applicants will have experience with all the following:
A valid Professional Engineering registration and be able to obtain a Wisconsin PE registration within 3 months if the PE registration is from another state.
Experience working on transportation projects (Examples may include: civil engineering experience on transportation improvement projects in design, construction, repair, or reconstruction of roadways or bridges as a project leader, project manager, or as a supervisor.)
