This position is anticipated to be a transition role in which the Assistant will grow with the company and learn the functions of the Coordinator to eventually take on that role.
Seeking a DOT Coordinator Assistant with a background in Project Coordination or Administrative work to support the DOT Coordinator.
Work closely with our Safety and Compliance Directors as well as our drivers.
Responsible for assisting in ensuring compliance of driver qualification documentation.
Responsible for maintenance of DOT required compliance records
Track driver credentials (License, Haz-Mat Endorsement, Medical Cards, etc.)
Track and maintain all DOT required training records in accordance with FMCSR
Processing, verifying, auditing, and maintaining e-Logs and paper logs including device training for drivers and dispatchers
Compiling and preparing reports and documents pertaining to safety and compliance activities
General administrative duties
Schedule drug screens
Update & maintain DOT files
Information gathering and verification
Other duties assigned by DOT Coordinator


High School Diploma or GED required
Associates or Bachelors degree preferred
Administrative background with experience in MS Office programs and present an accurate, detail oriented and dependable professional demeanor
DOT experience preferred
Must demonstrate professional demeanor and judgement
Must demonstrate strong computer literacy

VIEW JOBS 11/20/2018 12:00:00 AM 2019-02-18T00:00 This position is designed to develop individuals who want to become DOT drivers but do not have the required license or tractor/trailer experience. A primary requirement of this program is that the individual must obtain a CDL–Permit within two months of entering into the program. Upon successful completion of the driver training program, the expectation is to promote the trainee to a DOT Route Service Associate. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES * Must learn to be proficient in performing delivery duties while maintaining a good safety record. * Must have a sense of urgency while learning to deliver product along assigned routes consisting of multiple stops with various levels of difficulty * Must be able to read customer invoices to determine items to be moved, gathered, distributed and delivered * Must be able to learn to use electronic equipment such as Xata on board computer and hand held scanners * Must learn and adhere to the rules which are governed by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration * Must learn to maintain accuracy of delivered product with no damage due to mishandling * Obey traffic laws and follow established traffic and transportation procedures * Must learn how to conduct safety inspection of vehicle in compliance with DOT and FMCSR guidelines and learn to check fluid levels daily, such as gas, oil, water, tires, lights and brakes in order to ensure that vehicles are in proper/safe working condition * Must learn to articulate and report all mechanical problems encountered with vehicles * Learn to maintain records such Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports and Driver Hours of Service Logs in accordance with Federal Motor Carrier Regulations * Report delays, accidents or other traffic and transportation situations to transportation management * Must become proficient with Smith Systems Defensive Driver Training JOB QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. * Commitment to Ben E. Keith company principles and standards * Must be at least 21 years old * Must have a valid Driver License * Knowledge of principles and processes for providing good customer service, including needs assessment and meeting quality standards for services * Must have good communication skills * Must be well organized * Must be able to multi-task assignments and have the willingness to learn new processes * Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. * Must have good mathematical skills * Must be proficient with a personal computer EDUCATION * High School Diploma or GED (General Education Degree) GENERAL STATEMENT Drug Screen and Physical will be required.
