New Hanover Regional Medical Center (NHRMC) is inviting applicants to apply for a medical dosimetrist position in the Department of Radiation Oncology at New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington, North Carolina. The successful applicant will provide dosimetry services at the main campus in Wilmington, NC and the affiliated facility in Supply, NC and will travel between sites as needed.
The successful applicant will join a team of 5 physicists, 5 physicians and 5 dosimetrists. Together we will support a busy department treating approximately 100 patients per day with active LDR, HDR, SRS & SBRT programs. The department uses a Philips BBB CT, 4 C- Series Varian Linacs, Eclipse treatment planning (13.6), Aria R&V, Oncentra HDR Brachytherapy, Variseed LDR Brachytherapy, Brainlab's iplan for SRS and RadCalc.
The dosimetrist will generate treatment plans for a variety of sites using 3DCRT, VMAT/IMRT and SRS techniques. Candidates should be able to demonstrate competence with various treatment planning techniques and have a strong interest in process improvement. Preference will be given to candidates that are experienced with our current software, brachytherapy planning and SRS/SBRT treatment planning. Experience with MIM and Rapidplan are also desired.
Graduate of a medical dosimetry program and eligible to sit for the CMD exam. New graduates and or current dosimetry students with Eclipse experience are encouraged to apply.

All the primary duties within this document will be performed according to established policies, procedures and guidelines within the department and the Medical Center.
The Dosimetrist, under the general supervision of the Radiation Oncologist and Medical Physicist, is responsible for performing complex computation and verifications of treatment plans by means of computer and/or manual calculation with optimal beam geometries to deliver prescribed radiation dose and spare critical structures in accordance with the Radiation Oncologist's prescription.
PRIMARY JOB DUTIES:
Radiation Therapy Treatment Planning:
Designs treatment plans in accordance with the Radiation Oncologist's prescription.
Seeks assistance for complex treatment plans; for example gap calculations, unusual electron and IMRT cases.
Identifies and contours normal and dose-limiting structures by utilizing images from one for more data sets.
Demonstrates proficiency in image registration with various image data sets to include CT, MRI and PET.
Advises and assists radiation therapists with the implementation of treatment plans including: the correct use of immobilization devices, compensators/bolus, wedges, field arrangement, and other treatment or imaging parameters.
Performs calculations for the accurate delivery of the prescribed dose, documents all pertinent information in the patient record, and verifies the mathematical accuracy of all calculations by an approved method.
Assists in weekly chart review for completeness of chart: photos, setup information, revisions, prescriptions, and required signatures.
Completes appropriate billing/coding procedures.
Attends educational meetings/seminars to improve technical skills and knowledge.
Maintains a proactive attitude to problem solving and troubleshooting.
Provides high quality service to all patients and members of staff at NHRMC.
Participates in record keeping and documentation as needed.
Compliance with workplace policies and procedures for risk identification, risk assessment and risk control.

ESSENTIAL JOB SPECIFICATIONS:
1.Education: Graduate of an accredited medical dosimetry program.
2.Licensure / Certifications: Eligibility for the CMD exam required; Certification in medical dosimetry by the AAMD desired.
3.Experience: 5 years progressive experience as a medical dosimetrist desired.
