Dosimetrist PRN

Job Summary

The Radiation Dosimetrist performs radiographic CT simulation and associated documentation, radiation dosimetry calculations, schedules treatment plan data in radiation therapy EMR, constructs immobilization devices, develops computerized dosimetry - SRS/SRT, IMRT and 3D CRT plans, directs simulation activities and performs output measurements for quality assurance procedures. Submits and audits dosimetry charges for reimbursement.

Minimum Education, Training and Experience Required:

  • Bachelor's degree required unless licensed prior to 2017.

  • Requires medical dosimetry certification (CMD)

  • Certification as a RTT (ARRT registration) preferred

  • Requires certification by the Kentucky Cabinet for Human Resources as a radiation therapy technologist (KROC).

  • BCLS required.

Job Description: Medical Radiation Physicist PRN - Radiation Therapy Department Job Summary: The medical radiation physicist is responsible for: * Helping to plan the course of treatment for the cancer patient under the direction of the Radiation Oncologist. This will include review of computer applications relevant to the treatment and quality assurance mechanisms regarding dose distribution, and evaluation of treatment plans. * Other responsibilities include review of daily output/dose measurements, review of maintenance reports, monthly calibration of therapy equipment, overseeing the installation of new equipment and acceptance testing of same, and establishing overall quality assurance mechanisms used in the department. * The physicist will participate in process improvement projects, and prepare reports for monthly QA meetings. Principal Duties and Responsibilities: The following is a summary of the major functions of this individual's job. He or she may perform other duties, both major and minor, which are not mentioned below, and specific functions may change from time to time. 1.Provides broad-scope clinical physics services to assure proper, accurate, and safe functionality of all treatment units, treatment planning computers, and simulator. 2.Provides daily checks of new patient setups, dose calculations, and computerized treatment plans. 3.Assists with a radiation protection program for staff and patients in the radiation center. 4.Supervises the handling and storing of all radioactive sources in the radiation center. 5.Oversees scheduling for proper periodic maintenance of radiation equipment. 6.Performs weekly continuing physics services for the radiation center. 7.Provides daily physics checks for changes in dose calculations for patient field revisions. 8.Assists in maintaining records, respecting confidentiality and established policy. 9.Provides input for equipment purchases and for supplies related to physics activities. 10.Pursues appropriate continuing education. 11.Provides annual in-service education/training for the radiation center personnel. 12.Able to perform acceptance and commissioning new equipment and machines. 13.Performs all monthly and annual QA on machines as well as annual TPS QA 14.Assists in treatment planning for complex cases and stereotactic treatment planning. Minimum Education, Training and Experience Required: A. Masters of Science in therapeutic medical physics or medical radiation physics B. Board Certified in Therapeutic Medical Physics by the American Board of Radiology. C. Minimum 4-5 years clinical experience. D. Advanced knowledge of computerized treatment planning systems, treatment machines and accessories. E. Strong clinical knowledge of all aspects of medical radiation physics. F. Flexible to be on call weekends and holidays, and to work above standard hours to meet staffing needs. G. Able to operate standard office equipment. H. Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills. I. Self-motivation and ability to work well with minimal supervision. J.
