  • Lead (Job Opening 459051) - Scope of Position The Lead Dosimetrist functions as an integral member of the Department of Radiation Oncology team and provides leadership for an assigned specialty area or outreach location.

    The Radiation Oncology team provides patient care and supportive services that are directed towards achievement of patient care outcomes through the integrated skills of all team members in the Department.

    The Lead Dosimetrist, as a member of the team, is thoroughly familiar with geometric characteristics of the radiation equipment, radioactive sources commonly employed, and has the training and expertise necessary to generate radiation dose distributions and calculations under the direction of the Dosimetry supervisor and radiation therapy physicist. The Lead Dosimetrist acts as a leader to the dosimetry team in the absence of the Dosimetry Supervisor. The Lead Dosimetrist is also key in assisting with the education and development of the non-certified Dosimetrist and Radiation Therapy students and residents.

    The Lead Dosimetrist acts as a department leader in implementing new technologies. The Lead Dosimetrist works with the Dosimetry Supervisor and ensures appropriate staffing coverage for his/her assigned specialty area/ outreach location in. The Lead Dosimetrist serves as the primary contact person for other faculty and staff members of the department when questions about the assigned specialty area/outreach location.

    The Lead Dosimetrist also performs all of the duties of a Radiation Dosimetrist. Position Summary The Lead Dosimetrist in the Department of Radiation Medicine is a member of the treatment planning team who measures, generates radiation dose distributions and calculations. In addition, the Lead Dosimetrist, assists with the organization and coordination of Radiation Therapy students and residents as it relates to the dosimetry department. The Lead Dosimetrist is also responsible for assisting with dosimetry curriculum development for the Radiation Therapy
