Job Title: Donor Relations Manager

Reports To: President

Classification: 12-month, Exempt, Full-Time (1.0 FTE)

De La Salle North Catholic High School provides a faith-based, college-preparatory high school education to underserved students from the Portland area. Our goal is to develop tomorrow's community leaders by making high-quality education accessible to motivated young people in a learning environment that values cultural, spiritual, and ethnic diversity. Our educational approach provides each student with the opportunity to succeed through small classes, high expectations, and active participation in our Corporate Work Study Program (CWSP) affiliated with the nationally-recognized Cristo Rey Network.

POSITION SUMMARY

As a member of the Development Team, the Donor Relations Manager reports to the President and will play a key role in the continued success and growth of the school's unique and transformative mission. The Donor Relations Manager is responsible for fundraising goals connected to individual and corporate giving, including event giving, year-end appeal giving, and all other major and mid-level giving. The Donor Relations Manager works closely with the President, the Board of Trustees, the Ambassador Board, Principal, and other administrative leaders to plan and implement strategic donor relations activities.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Fundraising

  • 80%
  • Prospecting and Cultivation: Coordinate and refine the school's prospect management system to ensure the effective and productive management of mid-level and major gift prospects. Strategize and work with the President to implement cultivation techniques to inspire prospective supporters to become donors and increase the number of donors to the annual operating fund.

  • Relationship Building and Stewardship: Build on existing relationships, improve donor retention, and work to upgrade donors through meaningful relationship building and stewardship strategies. Leverage President and board members in these efforts.

  • Portfolio Management: Maintain a portfolio of key individual and corporate supporters. Plan and track all activities of the donor cycle for each supporter in the portfolio.

  • Planning and Analysis: Create an annual donor relations work plan that leads to achieving or exceeding fundraising goals. Track and analyze progress. Support the budgeting process with individual and corporate giving goal setting.

  • Special Events: Ensure the success of fundraising events by executing all donor relations activities required for securing sponsorships, match gifts, strategic paddle raises, donated auction items, etc.

  • Donor Communication and Documentation: Ensure donors are communicated with promptly and inquiries and paperwork are handled effectively and efficiently. Ensure a personal acknowledgement touch is provided for all significant gifts. Track all donor interactions in Raiser's Edge.

  • Support and further a "culture of philanthropy" at DLSNC with the Board of Trustees, President, Executive Team and staff/faculty members.

  • Work collaboratively with the Marketing and Communications Director to design fundraising collateral and ensure integrated communications and consistent strategies. Ensure effective communication with donors regarding the impact of their giving.

  • Represent De La Salle North Catholic in the community at events and conferences as appropriate. Effectively communicate the importance of donors as partners in the mission of the school.

General Development Department Support

  • 20%

As a member of the Development team, support the necessary administrative work of the department and additional work necessary to successfully host special and other Development activities throughout the year.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree.

  • Minimum of two years of progressive experience in a comprehensive development program.

  • Experience in database systems management, specifically Blackbaud's The Raiser's Edge and Greater Giving event software.

  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.

  • Strong computer skills, including demonstrated proficiency with MS Office Suite and the Google Suite.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Proven ability of personally cultivating, closing, administering and stewarding mid-level and major gifts from individuals and corporations.

  • Ability to build meaningful relationships with donors.

  • Ability to effectively communicate (verbally and in writing) the mission and impact of the school.

  • Ability to passionately articulate the school's Lasallian charism and the school's unique vision.

  • Fully engage in the life of the school and community.

  • Ability and enthusiasm to perform in a fast-paced environment with a broad scope of activities with multiple deadlines.

  • Strong organizational and time management skills and the corresponding analytical skills needed to establish and reach fundraising goals and report on results.

  • Ability to exercise leadership skills while engaging in collaborative, team-based work; high capacity to inspire cooperation and work well with teams.

  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion; culturally competent in addressing complex issues.

  • High level of integrity, initiative, creativity and energy.

  • Discretion, ability to maintain confidentiality where appropriate.

  • Ability and willingness to travel on all major forms of public and private conveyance, ability to work weekends and evenings when necessary.

ANNUAL SALARY AND BENEFITS

Salary DOE. Generous benefits package includes: 80 hours paid vacation, 80 hours paid sick time, paid holidays, medical/dental/vision insurance with a shared premium cost, employer-paid life insurance and long-term disability insurance, and Employee Assistance Program (EAP), employee-paid voluntary insurance plans, and a 403(b) retirement savings plan with employer match.
