DESCRIPTION: The Annual Giving team at The Citadel Foundation is seeking a passionate and driven Donor Experience Officer (DXO) and Appeal Coordinator to join our organization. This position combines digital-first communication efforts with innovative workflows to build relationships, execute outreach to alumni and friends of The Citadel, and manage a range of appeals.
RESPONSIBILTIES:
Actively engage and manage a portfolio of recent and lapsed donors
Cultivate relationships with these donors via email, phone, social media, video conferencing, texting, and EverTrue's cloud platform
Work toward clear metrics and goals for outreach, donor meetings, dollars raised, donor count, prospect qualification, and engagement
Develop and maintain broad knowledge of The Citadel, such as admissions, athletics, academic programs, and alumni engagement activity
Provide information on The Citadel relative to donor interests and share upcoming opportunities to attend events, volunteer, participate in alumni activities/services, or otherwise deepen their engagement with The Citadel
Collaborate with other departments both internally at The Citadel and externally to effectively execute 1:1 outreach campaigns using technology resources including fundraising cloud platforms, social media, and virtual communications software
Manage crowdfunding efforts including goal setting, communications strategy, reporting and detailed fundraising plans for annual giving activities
Work closely with the Director of Annual Giving to help develop and manage goals and strategy for The Citadel Foundation's Annual Fund
Perform additional duties as assigned to include special projects and events to assist in the overall fundraising efforts within the Annual Giving team
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution of higher education
Ability to relate to people of diverse backgrounds, training, and experience
Skill in exercising a high degree of initiative, judgment, discretion, and decision-making to achieve organizational objectives
Excellent communication skills, written and verbal
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and other desktop computing software
Enthusiasm and excellent people skills are essential; successful candidate must have flexibility to handle the needs of a fast-paced work environment and the individual needs of donors
Ability to organize and prioritize tasks and to lead and motivate others
Some evening and weekend work is required
Affinity for the mission and core values of The Citadel and The Citadel Foundation
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience in annual giving and/or higher education institutional advancement
Experience with Blackbaud's Raiser's Edge, GiveCampus and/or EverTrue
Additional experience in fundraising, public relations, and/or marketing
At least two years of experience in related development/fundraising, preferably within higher education or in a sales role
Familiarity with The Citadel and/or similar military-focused organizations
