Job Title: Donor Center Technician II

Location: Queensbury, NY

Center Operating Hours: Tuesday-Saturday, 7 AM - 7 PM

Position Type: Full-Time (40 hours/week)

Pay Range: $19 - $22 per hour, based on experience

Work Schedule: Flexibility required to work an 8-hour shift, either opening or closing, from Tuesday to Saturday, as determined by the hiring manager to meet center operational needs.

General Summary of Job Duties: The Donor Center Technician II is responsible for performing quality calibration activities for the screening and donor floor area equipment. They are accountable for donor center pre-registration, registration, conducting health screenings, machine setup, donor disconnects, and preparing the plasma bottle for sampling. This position assists with donor center flow by monitoring equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform pre-donation medical screening and/or assessment, including health screening procedures such as blood pressure, temperature checks, pulse, capillary tube sample collection via finger stick, hematocrit, and total protein determination via digital refractometer.

  • Setup donors for the plasmapheresis procedure by ensuring that the disposable soft goods are installed in the automated plasmapheresis device.

  • Disconnect donors when the pheresis process is complete, ensuring collection targets have been met and recorded appropriately, removing the needle from the donor's arm, and providing donors with post-donation care education.

  • Complete cleaning activities based on the required equipment activity schedule.

  • Conduct pre-registration and registration verification activities for new donors.

  • Monitor equipment in all areas in which trained for alerts or alarms and take appropriate action following standard operating procedures.

  • Participate in donor flow management by assigning and escorting donors to the appropriate donation area.

  • Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations, OSHA, CLIA, cGMP, and internal procedures.

  • Maintain a positive and professional demeanor during all interactions with donors, fellow employees, and vendors.

  • Accept performance feedback in a professional manner.

  • Regular attendance and arriving on time to all scheduled shifts and mandatory meetings.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

  • Minimum one year of work experience preferred.

  • License or certification where required by state.

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.

  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

  • Discretion when dealing with confidential information.

  • Ability to work on multiple projects concurrently.

  • Ability to work independently and manage deadlines efficiently.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Physical Requirements:

  • Use hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls.

  • Frequent leaning, bending, stooping, crouching, and reaching above the shoulders and below the knee.

  • Ability to sit for extended periods for up to four hours at a time.

  • Ability to lift, tug, and pull up to 50 pounds.

  • May be exposed to freezing temperatures for short periods.
