Position Purpose and Objectives

America's Thrift Stores is seeking a proactive and results-driven Donations Development Representative to join our dynamic team. This role's primary objective is to spearhead our efforts in identifying and nurturing prospects to enhance our donations collection pipeline and supply chain, ultimately expanding our market share. This role involves strategic prospecting, pipeline management, and collaboration with our Donations Growth & Development Managers to secure new accounts and sources of donation supply, including but not limited to thrift, recycling, and property management sectors. A significant part of this role involves the application of telemarketing and cold-calling techniques to effectively reach out to potential partners, making previous experience in these areas highly advantageous.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Devise and execute potent prospecting strategies to unearth new donation collection opportunities and supply sources, employing telemarketing and cold-calling methodologies as essential tools for outreach.

  • Actively research and target potential partners in the thrift, recycling, and property management sectors, among others, to expand our supply chain and market presence.

  • Manage and move prospects through the sales pipeline efficiently, ensuring clear communication and follow-up at each stage.

  • Collaborate closely with Donations Growth & Development Managers, providing comprehensive hand-offs for later stages of the sales cycle to facilitate successful account acquisition.

  • Leverage market research to understand industry trends, potential growth areas, and competitive landscape, using this knowledge to inform prospecting strategies.

  • Build and maintain robust relationships with potential partners and stakeholders through regular engagement and professional interaction, often initiating contact through cold calls and telemarketing tactics.

  • Track and report on pipeline progress, including prospecting outcomes and strategic insights, to inform future growth strategies.

  • Work cross-functionally with other departments to ensure alignment with overall business goals and to leverage synergies in achieving growth objectives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Sales, or a related field.

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in business development, sales, or a similar role, with a strong emphasis on the success of telemarketing and cold-calling initiatives, preferably within the thrift, recycling, or property management industries.

  • Demonstrated ability to discover and nurture new business opportunities, manage sales pipelines, and effectively use telemarketing and cold calling as tools for initial engagement.

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret market data and trends to inform business strategies.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a knack for building relationships and persuading stakeholders.

  • Highly organized and strategic, with the ability to manage multiple prospects simultaneously and move them through the sales cycle effectively.

  • Self-motivated with a results-driven approach, able to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Familiarity with CRM software and sales management tools.

  • Willingness to travel as needed to support donation drives and meet with partners.

  • Valid Class D Driver's License and Clean MVR.

  • Must be self-motivated with a high degree of personal integrity and honesty.

Physical Demands:

  • Mostly regular hours, occasionally working evenings, weekend and holiday hours as needed.

  • Working environment involves inside office with controlled temperatures and outside conditions with varying weather and temperatures.
