Donation Site Attendant

Summary:

Join the Savers family as an Attendant for one of our Donation Sites. The Attendant provides our donors with excellent service to help encourage repeat donations and an increased donor base through positive word of mouth.

Job Responsibilities Include:

  • Promptly opens the Donation Site each assigned day and prepares site for that day's business

  • Cheerfully greets donors upon their arrival

  • Assists donors by transferring their donations from their vehicle in to the Donation Site.

  • Provides donation tax receipt to donors

  • Explains charity mission to donors, as requested

  • Weighs all donations by type and enters donor and product weight into Donation Log

  • Maintains Donation Site in a clean and safe condition to include the interior, the exterior grounds and parking lot and especially, the Donor Service Point

  • Assists collections driver unloading Donation Site while maintaining a priority on donor service

  • If trained and cleared, Attendants may also be asked to physically drive our trucks

  • Inventories and orders all necessary supplies

  • Communicates to Area Manager daily donor counts, product weights and any conditions at the site requiring attention necessary to meet donor service standards, safety concerns or site cleanliness.

  • Secures Donation Site at the end of the business day and calls the Area Manager to acknowledge closing of the location.

  • Immediately notify supervisor of any site visitor inquiring about our business (i.e., gov, fire, LL, solicitations etc.)

  • Other duties as assigned

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Customer Service oriented with cheerful personality

  • Excellent verbal communication skills

  • Basic math skills

  • Attention to cleanliness, organization and detail

  • Able to lift 75 lbs repeatedly throughout the day

  • Honesty and integrity

  • Reliable transportation and commitment to attendance and punctuality

  • Willing and able to work weekend days as a regular part the position schedule

  • Capable of working independently with minimal supervision

  • Satisfactorily pass physical and background exams

Minimum Required Education, Training and Experience:

  • Experience in customer service

  • Employment background demonstrating experience in working with minimal supervision

Tools and Equipment Used:

  • Cell phone and / or laptop for data entry

  • Cell phone to communicate to supervisor

  • Scale to measure product weights

  • Material handling equipment (OK carts) for storing and loading product

  • Use all company supplied safety equipment as defined in the operating and safety manuals

  • DOT Box Truck

Responsibilities include: perform daily inspections, traffic control and handle the monthly reporting function associated with the tipping floor operations. Responsibilities include the following: monitor vehicle activity on tipping floor, inspect refuse truck deliveries enforce all Covanta safety procedures and environmental policies on the tipping floor, refuse loads of unacceptable waste and document, enforce vehicle anti-idling policy, and maintain work areas in a clean and safe condition. Candidate will be responsible to have knowledge of tipping floor permits and facility, state and federal material restrictions. This position will also substitute into the scale house as required to supplement operations of. High School diploma or equivalent are required. Prior experience with an industrial plant is desired. Position Requirements To qualify you must have a High school diploma or equivalent. 1-3 years of experience in a technical field or equivalent experience is a plus. Knowledge of front-end loaders and various refuse collection vehicles a plus. Candidates require a flexible schedule Monday through Friday, as hours of inspection must vary from day to day.
