Goodwill Donation Door Attendant acts as the face to Goodwill, providing donors with exceptional customer service while helping them deliver donated items, promoting Goodwill and donor loyalty.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Support the mission and vision of Goodwill Industries of Northern Michigan.

  • Perform work in a safe manner observing all Goodwill safety policies/procedures.

  • Perform duties and interact with all Goodwill team members, clients, and customers in a professional manner. Respect the diversity of others including, but not limited to, those with cultural, ethnic, and gender differences, individuals experiencing homelessness, and persons with visible and non-visible disabilities.

  • Greet donors at their vehicle in the drive up.

  • Unload donated goods from donor's vehicles.

  • Offer donors donation vouchers.

  • Handle multiple donors at the same time.

  • Maintain excellent customer relations at all times.

  • Handle donations in an appropriate and safe manner.

  • Assist in processing donated goods as needed, sort goods as required.

  • Assist in maintaining essential supplies and equipment to production stations.

  • Maintain a clean and safe work area at all times.

  • May assist in the processing of goods as needed or directed.

  • Be able to work independently, remain focused and follow through, as well as working as part of a team.

  • Assist as needed in transporting large items to and from the sales floor.

Reports to: Store Manager

Education, Licenses, Certifications and Experience:

Some high school preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

Self-motivated

Ability to work independently

Physical Requirements:

Standing, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, bending, kneeling, reaching, walking, hearing, seeing, twisting and turning.

Regular lifting of 20-50 pounds.

Occasionally heavy lifting exerting 50-100 pounds of force.

Work Environment sometimes hectic with occasional high stress, occasional short deadlines.

SUMMARY Greet all guests, park guests' vehicles upon arrival in the valet area in a safe, prompt, friendly, and courteous manner, and retrieve guests' vehicles upon departure. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Greet all guests. Ability and willingness to work in inclement weather. Safely park and retrieve vehicles from the valet parking area. Operate vehicles with manual and automatic transmissions. Accurately complete valet ticket data and vehicle inspection per department procedures. Accurately record vehicle location data per department procedures. Complete daily paperwork. Respond to radio communications in an efficient and professional manner. Provide a high level of guest service and professionalism at all times. Knowledge of major area attractions and tourism needs in order to efficiently describe the location, including physical location and relative characteristics of information requested. Maintain valet area and surrounding area(s) free of debris. Keep all Valet work areas clean and organized. TIPS certified. Properly report accidents and injuries per policy. Willingness to cross-train and provide support in related areas of operations. Other duties as assigned by Supervisor. OTHER NECESSARY SKILLS AND ABILITIES Must have excellent guest service and communication skills both verbal and written. Must be a team player with a positive attitude. Must be able to complete tasks and projects in a timely manner by prioritizing obligations and time. Must possess the ability to work with various personalities while maintaining impartiality. Must respond to supervisory guidance and assignments and accept constructive criticisms in order to learn new, updated information. The needs for quickness and ease of adjustment to the work environment and flexibility to change are essential in this position. DRIVING REQUIREMENTS Must have a valid Michigan Driver's License and be insurable by the Tribe. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES None EQUIPMENT TO BE USED Both manual and automatic vehicles. Diesel and gasoline operated vehicles. Two-way radios. Battery jump pack. TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS Must be able to run short distances repeatedly throughout entire shift. May be required to lift up to 40 lbs. and be able to stand and/or walk for extended periods of time. May also be required to reach, bend, stretch, kneel, crawl, lift and carry on occasion. TYPICAL MENTAL DEMANDS Must be able to effectively handle stressful and compromising situations while remaining focused and professional. Must be able to deal with difficult people without losing perspective. Must be able to work productively under strict time restraints with variable deadlines. WORKING CONDITIONS Must be able and willing to work in a crowded, loud smoking environment. Must be able to handle being under constant surveillance. May be required to work in an enclosed space. Must be able and willing to work in all climate conditions. Must practice all safety policies, procedures and standards as set by OSHA. COMMENTS Native American and Tribal Preference will apply. Must be able to pass a background investigation and a drug and alcohol urinalysis as a condition of employment. Must be able to work flexible hours and to take on additional responsibilities when asked. Must adhere to company policies regarding strict confidentiality.
