As a Dog Trainer or Dog Trainer Apprentice with Petco, you will play an absolutely vital role in the Petco family. Within your store, you will be the primary resource and leader for Petco's Positive Dog Training program. You must be committed to and show a genuine interest in enhancing communication and teamwork between dog and pet parent by offering positive solutions and rewarding success while providing a fun and safe environment for dogs, pet parents and store partners.

Our Dog Trainer Apprenticeship is a comprehensive training program to prepare you for the role of Dog Trainer in your store. Apply today, and a store manager will review your skills, experience and prior training to determine where you might fit on the Dog Training team.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Acting as a subject matter expert for Petco's Positive Dog Training Program, products, services and in-store promotions

  • Promoting, conducting and instructing all current dog training curricula

  • Be a genuine Petco ambassador who exemplifies the Petco culture and values in all communications and interactions.

  • Coaching, encouraging and motivating dogs and pet parents

  • Effectively deliver formal presentations

  • Achieve Dog Training goals by offering creative Training solutions

  • Strong ability to inspire and motivate self and others.

  • Assisting in the loading, unloading and stocking of merchandise

  • Ensuring that store animals receive the highest quality care and are maintained in clean, safe and secure habitats

  • Promoting established safety and loss prevention procedures

The ideal Dog Trainer candidate will have:

  • CPDT-KA or Karen Pryor Academy (KPA-CTP) certifications

  • Previous experience teaching positive reinforcement dog training techniques in group or class settings

  • Computer skills with the ability to quickly research information from the Internet

  • The ability to work during peak traffic periods during week days and weekends

VIEW JOBS 11/11/2019 12:00:00 AM 2020-02-09T00:00 Under the general supervision of the Director of Rehabilitation and Diagnostic Services, is responsible for independently evaluates and interprets client needs, plans, implements, and leads integrated individualized exercise/activity programs for clients at all levels, and with a broad range of fitness, rehabilitation, and/or other specialized requirements. This is a part time position working 8 hours per week. Responsibilities Quality and Customer Service : * Greets all clients by name and with a smile at the time scheduled. * Monitor the use of equipment and report equipment not being used or when there may be a wait for certain equipment to ensure that we have appropriate equipment for our client. * Ensure that equipment is being wiped down accordingly after use and instruct members of our policy * Ensure that all equipment is picked up and placed in the appropriate place after use. * Participate in yearly competencies. Trainer/Equipment * Administers and evaluates client health history questionnaires and physiological data to determine appropriate individual exercise/activity regimens. * Independently interprets physiological assessment data and/or post-rehabilitation recommendations of referring medical providers/therapists to determine the nature and extent of specific client requirements. * Plans and implements standard and specialized exercise regimens, and/or post-rehabilitative exercise programs in response to assessed individual need and assessed capability. * Independently determines format and content of programs based on assessed client abilities and needs, and on interpretation of physiological assessment and/or referral data. * Will use pool with clients (that have had pool therapy) after specific orientation and education of specific exercises given by the Physical or Occupational Therapists Documentation/Monitoring * Tracks client progress and maintains complete and accurate client files. * Ensures client adherence to safety and injury prevention policies and procedures; prepares accident reports as required. * Advises participants on other program and class policies and procedures, as appropriate. * May observe the need for other medical input and will make and assist the patient in the appropriate referrals * Will update the fitness tip board with new exercise tips to encourage and motivate clients.
