Position Overview

The Document Control Manager will lead a team Document Control Specialists, responsible for handling construction, engineering, and vendor documents and data related to TIC/Kiewit projects.

Location

This position will be located at our GCGV project site in Gregory, Texas.

Responsibilities

  • Organize, train, direct, and manage team to ensure successful fulfillment of department goals.

  • Assign work to team members in a fair and responsible manner that will meet or exceed project requirements, leverage individual team member talents, and support individual professional development goals.

  • Schedule/Coordinate/Lead meetings (intra- and inter-discipline) as needed to resolve issues.

  • Supervise all document control activities and provide departmental oversight and direction.

  • Monitor and track in-house engineering, external partner/contractor, and vendor documents and deliverables throughout life of the pursuit/project.

  • Assess the knowledge and technical understanding and capability of Clients, external partners/contractors, and vendors, and organize and provide necessary training and assistance.

  • Ensure compliance with company performance management processes and employee development programs. Assess competencies of team members, and mentor/train less-experienced personnel in document control concepts, tools, procedures, and practices.

  • Establish departmental Best Practices and ensure that procedures and work instructions are followed.

  • Identify, evaluate, and eliminate or mitigate risks to the company's results or reputation.

  • In coordination with Quality Control, develop and lead continuous improvement efforts for Document Control.

  • Archive/preserve documents as required by code, statute, or regulations, including making provisions as required for "wet signature" and/or physically stamped/sealed documents.

  • Establish and maintain performance metrics for quality, response time, and productivity.

  • Forecast staffing requirements and recruit, select, and on-board department personnel as appropriate to meet company needs.

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience in document control in the Construction, Engineering, or Oil/Gas/Chemical Construction sector

  • 2+ years of Document Control supervision/management

  • Familiarity with document control tools and software such as SharePoint and Bluebeam Revu

  • Records Retention / Information Lifecycle system experience

  • Ability to use appropriate tools and methods to collect and analyze data in order to identify and resolve business and/or technical problems

  • Excellent communications skills, both verbal and written

  • Record of successfully creating, establishing, and utilizing business processes, quality standards, performance metrics, and work instructions

  • Highly motivated, with a demonstrated passion for excellence and taking initiative

  • Strong work ethic, willing to do whatever it takes to get the job done right the first time

  • Demonstrated commitment to business ethics and integrity

Summary: The CRO is responsible for the safe, reliable, efficient, and environmentally compliant operation of all Plant equipment under his/her control in accordance with written plant procedures and under the direction of Operations Management and the Shift Team Lead. In the absence of specific orders and/or directives, the CRO exercises initiative, using experience and good judgment in Plant operation. Complies with company policies including those concerning safety, environmental, and conduct of operations. Essential Duties/Responsibilities: * Firm understanding of the safety and environmental over production expectations at NRG. * Follows NRG Conduct of Operations. * Provides safe, efficient, reliable and environmentally sound operation of power plant equipment from the Control Room including, gas turbines, generators, plant auxiliary equipment and systems during normal and emergency operation controlling flow of electrical energy. * Recognize safety hazards and follows safety guidelines for personal protection, protection of fellow workers and the protection of the public. * Assist in providing skill enhancement training to other personnel, and on-the-job training to Plant Operators. * Knowledgeable of environmental rules and regulations, and effectively apply them to all work situations. * Perform equipment manipulations from DCS or in the field as required. * Manipulate equipment to support Lockout/Tagout process. * Assist in troubleshooting operational problems. * Apply knowledge of steam power plant operations and basic power plant principles to daily decision-making and work tasks. * Operate computers, printers, and associated software to support plant operational and reporting needs. * Discern and respond to verbal and auditory signals from operating system. * Work without supervision. Working Conditions: * Power Plant Environment - Work both inside and outside in all temperatures and climate conditions in accordance with procedures. * Work with large rotating equipment, energized electrical equipment in high noise areas, and/or in confined places, on elevations in excess of 150 feet[MRD1] , or from platforms at heights of 5 feet or greater. * Must be prepared to work irregular or rotating shifts and respond to emergency callout 7 days a week, 24 hours a day. * Ability to work in mentally stressful environments: must be able to react to crises where immediate action is required to correct or curtail potentially damaging or hazardous situations. * Work with and around hazardous and non-hazardous materials (reference the waste management guidance manual). Minimum Requirements: * High School diploma or GED. * 3-5 years Plant Operator experience in a Power Plant environment * Qualified Control Room Operator with demonstrated control room experience * External and non-operations candidates must have a score of Recommended on the NRG pre-employment assessment Preferred Qualifications: * I&E, mechanic or Electrical experience. * Strong operational knowledge and experience in operation of GE7FA/HRSG combined cycle equipment, steam turbines & auxiliaries, and water plant operations. * Successful completion of Gregory plant specific operations up to and including Control Room Operations Training Program. * Mechanical experience involving pumps, turbines and support equipment. Physical Requirements: * Climb stairways, ladders, and work from aerial devices. * Daily work expectation requires ability to perform tasks by walking, standing, sitting, kneeling, crouching, squatting, twisting, pushing, pulling, , climbing, and working with hand tools (up to 25 pounds) in position above and below head, and extended from body to complete repairs. * Lift, carry, position and use tools and/or equipment (weighing up to 50 lbs.) in awkward positions, swing various weights of sledgehammers , stoop and bend to reach valves, pull on chain-falls or come-a-longs. * Ability to twist the body and neck while driving company vehicles or operating company equipment. * Performance of duties may cause frequent jarring of the body. * Must be able to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as required i.e.…steel-toed boots, goggles, safety glasses, chemical PPE, etc. * Meet NRG fitness for duty requirements.
