Essential duties and responsibilities:
Responsible for the timely and accurate movement of petroleum cargo between ships/barges and shore tanks, including proper valve alignment.
Cargo transfers include loading and discharging crude oil, lube oil, marine fuels, specialty chemicals and Liquefied Hazardous Gases (LHG's).
Responsible for setup, monitoring and disconnection of inline sampling devices.
Responsible for inspection and upkeep of docks, hazard identification and initial emergency response.
Must learn and follow the Energy Transfer Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedure and the operation of the Marine Vapor Control Systems.
Process Safety Management (PSM) awareness training is required, and the successful applicant must complete 48 hours of LHG cargo transfer training for U.S.C.G. Person-In-Charge (PIC) certification.
Requirements:
Education and/or Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Must possess and exercise good working knowledge of American Petroleum Institute (API) guidelines covering petroleum measurement, product sampling and cargo temperature determination.
Must be able to use marine measurement equipment including closed manual gauging devices, gauge tapes and thermo-probes.
Must be able to read standard and metric measurement devices, be proficient in basic math calculations including the addition and subtraction of fractions.
Candidate should have basic working knowledge of liquid cargo movements via pumps, pipelines, valves, tanks, meter skids, etc. and possess the ability to work outdoors in inclement weather.
Must be able to ascend/descend dock gangways, ladders and stairs.
Candidate will interact daily with ship agents, tugboat operators, barge tanker-men, ship crew's, government officials, third-party inspectors, and others.
