Overview

We are currently looking for Freight Handlers to join our Southeastern Team. Our Freight Handlers are an integral part of our dock operations, helping our company produce over 99% on time service to our customers. In this role, you will be responsible for safely and efficiently loading and unloading freight onto and off of equipment, as well as assisting in the recouping of damaged freight. Responsibilities

Here are the key things you will need to have

  • A High School Diploma or GED

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.

  • Ability to pass the requirements of a Company administered drug screen

  • Ability to work various shifts and ability to work an entire shift which may end at different times

Qualifications

What you'll do on a typical day

  • Selects and uses proper freight handling equipment to load and unload freight. Such equipment may include forklifts with appropriate hardware, hand trucks, drum trucks, pallet jacks, rollers, and any other available equipment to move, load, arrange, rearrange and unload freight.

  • Plans cube utilization and proper weight distribution when loading freight.

  • Counts and inspects condition of freight, documenting any shortages or damage.

  • Reviews freight bills for special instructions. Checks manifests for existing exceptions and checks the label and the destination code on manifests against freight bills.

  • Performs work required in a timely manner and maintains adequate production in order to meet service schedules and customer commitments.

  • Performs duties in a manner that promotes superior customer service and professionalism within the Company and the industry.

Position Shift and ScheduleThis is a full time permanent position working 1:00pm until finished. Flexibility to work overtime, weekends, and holidays is required as scheduled. Position CompensationThe starting rate of pay for this position is $10.40 per hour. Attractive benefits package (medical, dental, vision, 401k with company match, paid time off, etc) Position Responsibilities * Accurately pick products by matching numbers and product descriptions using voice audio headset. Hand stacks cases of product weighing up to 50 pounds repetitively from floor to over-head throughout the duration of the shift. * Place the beverage products in a defined stacking pattern onto the pallet. * Hand shrink wrap customer orders with label and move completed order to the loading dock staging area using electronic pallet jack or walkie-rider equipment. * Report all product discrepancies or quality issues to supervision including damaged product, wrong store number, equipment issues, etc. * Follow all safety procedures and adhere to all company policies and procedures, including the safe operation of equipment and help to maintain a safe, clean work environment to include general housekeeping warehouse duties. Requirements Qualifications * Ability to work while standing, pushing, pulling, bending, twisting, kneeling and lifting for the entire duration of the shift. * Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. throughout the entire shift from floor to over-head. * Ability to work while using a headset, voice-activated, order selector picking system. * Ability to hand shrink wrap pallets of completed orders. * Ability to work in multi-temperature environments, hot or cool.
