Dock Worker - Part Time

Gannett Publishing Services, located at Florida Today in Brevard, Florida is recruiting for a part-time, Operations Coordinator for our Newspaper Distribution Centers working up to 29 hours per week. This individual provides general support for a Distribution center performing a variety of tasks and responsibilities within home delivery including delivery of newspapers. Position requires flexibility to work varied days and hours including weekends and holidays as needed.

  • Distribution and handling of daily and non-daily products to carriers, haulers, retailers and consumers.

  • Unload and load trucks containing various print publications.

  • Open the Distribution Center and prepare for the independent contractor arrival by printing, preparing and distributing specified reports and paperwork.

  • Utilize industry specific software to handle required reporting for center.

  • General housekeeping of distribution center

  • Complete required documentation and reports for center as needed.

  • Assist with delivering newspapers,

  • Respond to and resolve subscriber service issues

  • Maintain and repair news racks throughout the designated distribution area.

  • Assist with training Product Handlers or Product Coordinators as needed.

Requirements:

Valid driver's license, satisfactory motor vehicle record, dependable automobile, and liability insurance required. Strong organizational and communication skills required for a fast-paced environment. Good computer skills including Microsoft office. Good time management skills. Good verbal and written communication skills. Must be able to push and pull carts loaded with newspapers weighing up to 500 pounds with assistance and repetitively lift newspaper bundles weighing up to 25 pounds.

Education:

GED/High School Diploma

Related Experience:

Previous newspaper or distribution/warehouse experience preferred.

As a Dock Worker you will be expected to perform various warehouse activities to include but not limited to operate a forklift, order picker, scanning parts, staging, loading, unloading, stocking of trucks, and keeping up with inventory. Essential Job Duties- * Receives labels from supervisor for parts to be pulled for assigned Location. * Operates a forklift or order selector to transport parts in and about warehouse. * Loads trucks according to the delivery schedule and performs a final check off parts loaded. * Sorts and places parts and supplies on racks, shelves, or in bins according to predetermined sequence. * Verifies in-stock position on product for inside sales staff. * Classifies all returns according to integrity and condition of parts, and prepares necessary forms (RDDR) for inventory adjustments. * Signs off on all delete tickets, providing an explanation as to the reason. * Puts wheel cores in staging area for return to remanufacturing facilities. * Maintains orderliness and housekeeping of assigned work areas. * Complies with established company policies and procedures. * Initiates and supports the continual improvement of Keystone Automotive Industries' quality improvement system. * Assumes other duties as assigned. Basic Qualifications (Minimum Required Experience, Education, Knowledge/Skills/Abilities, Essential Physical Demands): Education & Experience: High School graduate or G.E.D. equivalent desired. Up to six months of warehouse related experience, supplemented by on-the-job training, to learn duties, nature of work performed, procedures, work methods, and works well with others.
