We are seeking a DMPK Director with a high level of skill in pharmacokinetics and small molecule drug optimization through tuning ADME parameters and physico-chemical property space.

The focus of the role is to lead AstraZeneca's approach to optimize the pharmacokinetics of small molecule payloads conjugated to antibody drug conjugates (ADCs). This is a strategic and scientific role where you, together with Medicinal Chemists and project representatives from other disciplines, design our future therapeutic ADC drugs.

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

It is your responsibility that the DMPK project team delivers the overall non-clinical DMPK, including pre-clinical PK, biotransformation and bioanalysis to early drug projects.

You are expected to have a solid understanding of DMPK and chemistry to be able to provide expert advice and interpretation of complex drug discovery data in relation to drug property space.

Apply an understanding of DMPK, physicochemical properties and biotransformation to support/influence compound design, project progression and project strategy.

Lead DMPK-related activities in your drug project, including the use of bespoke experiments and predictive models to ensure that DMPK challenges are thoroughly assessed and resolved.

Driving learning through back translation of early clinical exposure and PD data and providing prioritized future options for clinical testing.

Providing disciplinary scientific leadership and presenting work through patents, publications and lectures.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree

  • At least three years inudstry experience in a DMPK lead role at a Pharmaceutical company

  • High level of skill in pharmacokinetics (PK) and small molecule drug optimization

  • Should demonstrate complete understanding of the pre-clinical PK and not only what factors influence individual PK parameters but also how to change the PK properties using analysis of physico-chemical property space and biotransformation knowledge: Provide Drug Projects tactics on how Program can get to desired end-point

Desirable Qualifications:

  • PhD is desirable, but not required

  • Ability to credibly influence whilst maintaining independent and objective views

  • Communication, interpersonal and organizational skills

  • Attention to detail and analytical thinking
