The Vice President of Finance (VP Finance) will report to the CEO and be responsible for all of DMGroup's financial operations and portions of the administrative functions (Finance, Human Resources, IT, Legal, and Office Management). This position requires a financial leader with a quantitative mindset who is comfortable working with technology, process automation, and operations. DMGroup is growing quickly and the VP Finance will be asked to develop and support the growth of the firm in a cohesive manner and in a fashion that facilitates effective utilization of resources and rapid future growth. In addition, the VP Finance will effectively serve as a strategic advisor to the CEO as well as other executive team leaders on key issues related to strategy, organization, and tactics.
Key Responsibilities of the VP Finance include:
Lead an impactful finance function that includes financial strategy and planning, cash flow management, receivables and payables, payroll, banking relationships, timely preparation of financial reports, forecasting, and adherence to financial laws and guidelines. This responsibility also entails vigilant oversight of possible risks and required investments.
Support peers on the executive team by providing management and financial analysis, actionable insights, and advice on the most effective and profitable course of action in leading their respective functions.
Establish effective pricing and margin management. This includes owning the economic models related to the various business units and suggesting/driving changes to maximize future profitability and return on investment.
Assist in improving customer retention by continuously analyzing new sales bookings and the customer base to determine attrition, customer profitability, and actions to maximize lifetime value.
Attract, retain, mentor and develop top talent in the finance function in order to continuously upgrade the caliber of finance functions.
Be part of a high-performing human resources functional team (composed of the CEO, COO, and other senior leaders) that supports hiring, development, training, onboarding, employee relations, compensation, and employee communications.
Lead HR compliance and benefits administration, space planning, and HR policy documentation.
Be part of a modern IT support function (composed of the CEO, COO and VP of Technology) that manages IT and computer systems, network access, data security, backup and disaster recovery, and information retrieval.
Help lead and maintain management information needs spanning across finance and client-facing functions such as membership, consulting, and solutions teams, resulting in high-touch services that will help business leaders make effective decisions.
Support the CEO and COO in ensuring an effective legal function by working as required with outside legal counsel to ensure compliance with all laws and regulations, analyzing and identifying legal risks, and informing senior management of all laws and regulations that could potentially impact the company.
Work closely with the CEO and Executive Team to establish the strategy, goals, and actions necessary to achieve aggressive growth targets. This will also entail developing accurate and actionable annual plans and forecasts.
Lead day-to-day operations in a manner that engenders high staff commitment and consistent performance; continually raise the bar while instilling accountability for both individual and team results.
Seek continuous improvement in staff capabilities and provide ongoing coaching and development opportunities.
Lead and reinforce the Company culture and values within the finance, HR, IT, and legal organizations.

This person should be operationally-oriented with well-rounded business acumen and the proven expertise in adding value across an enterprise. The ideal candidate will be a high-energy, team-oriented, driven problem-solver with prior experience in leading finance, human resources, and other support functions in a rapidly growing company. They should have a track record of building strong relationships with their peers. Importantly, they should possess small company DNA and have achieved success in a high-growth, $10 to $25+ million, consulting and tech-enabled services company with experience targeting enterprise customers.
Specific qualifications include:
10+ years of experience and a proven track record in financial management in a high growth, recurring revenue business with significant consulting and sales components.
Strong track record of hiring and growing finance and IT support teams and an ability to do so with speed.
Crisp decision making and ability to drive solutions to problems with fresh and creative approaches.
High comfort level with ambiguity.
Strong operational mindset and a decisive hands-on mentality.
Metrics-driven, highly analytical approach and strong attention to detail.
