We are seeking an experienced Director of Human Resource (HR) with outstanding people skills to manage our personnel and ensure that our human resources programs and initiatives are effective, efficient, and aligned to overall business objectives. Duties for the Director of HR will include supervising HR personnel, dealing with employee grievances and disputes, supporting employee development programs, enhancing job satisfaction, implementing HR strategies that support business objectives, forecasting staffing needs, mitigating risk, maintaining procedure for employee records, managing budgets, designing accountability mechanisms, and overseeing overall employment needs of division. This individual will oversee business units in multiple states. The Associate Director of HR will report directly to the VP of People, Culture and Development and will work with the corporate team to develop and implement new policies.

The ideal candidate for this role must possess a high work ethic, excellent communication skills, knowledge of multi-state labor regulations and HR practices, strategic thinking abilities, strong organizational skills, and excellent interpersonal skills. The exceptional Director of HR should improve HR processes, implement strategies that support business growth, improve morale and employee retention, enhance safety and wellness, strengthen relations between staff and employers, manage job satisfaction, attract the best recruits, and promote the organization's values.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement programs in all human resource areas including organizational structure and design, compensation and benefit planning, employee development, succession planning, employee communication, and workforce planning.

  • Supporting strategic objectives.

  • Identify and implement human resources projects that are aligned with strategic business initiatives including professional development, employee engagement, rewards and recognition, and performance management.

  • Manage and mentor the HR team, which has a core group in Chicago and local teams across the portfolio.

  • Hiring staff and negotiating employment agreements.

  • Assisting with payroll and compensation plans.

  • Work with local and corporate teams to ensure compliance with laws and regulations.

  • Managing staff wellness and performance reviews.

  • Manage Employee Relations Cases

  • Support Union Avoidance Strategies

  • Contribute to the success of the company by knowing how HR impacts the bottom line. You naturally have a "seat at the table" with your leadership and communication styles.

  • You serve as a resource, coach and mentor to everyone in the organization. A true servant-centered leader.

  • Motivating and supporting current staff.

  • Maintain policies on staff records.

  • Handling employee benefits.

  • Identifying staffing needs and creating job descriptions.

  • Designing and directing training programs.

  • Managing projects across the HR function.

  • Providing support to the regional HRBPs in market.

  • Additional job duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 10 years' experience in Human Resources or related field

  • Exceptional leadership skills and the desire to win

  • BA/BS in related field, MS and/or HR certifications preferred

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Highly organized

  • Superior interpersonal skills

  • Detail oriented

  • Good problem-solving skills

  • Budget management experience

  • Strong people skills

  • Knowledge of multi-state labor laws and regulations

  • Knowledge of Canadian Employment Laws preferred

  • Ultipro experience preferred

  • Computer literacy

  • Travel up to 25% will be required depending on the needs of the business.

The successful Accounting Operations Supervisor is responsible for maintaining policy and procedure documentation, overseeing proper cash controls and other operations controls across the fleet. Essential Duties & Responsibilities: * Direct and oversee the operations accounting team * Oversee Fleet accounts receivable process to ensure timely invoicing, payment processing procedures, collection activities, and city follow ups to minimize loss * Maintain Fleet cash control procedures, including oversight of city procedures, audits of cash handling and onboard and ticket booth closeouts. Investigate any activities that might indicate fraud * Oversee procedures for recognizing revenue in multiple revenue systems * Review onboard revenue for thoroughness and accuracy * Review city cash audits and other operational control audits, such as tax- exempt audits, contract audits, etc. * Oversee Fleet process for handling customer disputes and refund requests * Oversee chargeback process to minimize loss * Oversee Fleet armored car and bank vault services to maintain needed change orders, deposit pickups and other banking needs * Oversee and assist in month-end accounting and reconciliation processes of operations team * Coordinate and lead Fleet admin manager meetings to go over any operational changes or issues * Additional job duties as assigned Minimum Qualifications: * Preferred bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or related field and at least five years of experience. * Self-starter and able to work independently with minimal direction. * Have strong organizational skills and attention to detail * Communicate effectively in oral and written form * Strong multi-tasking skills and ability to prioritize and meet tight deadlines * Establish and maintain effective working relationships * Qualified comprehensive background check * Advanced experience with Microsoft Office applications (especially Word & Excel) * Experience with Microsoft Great Plains preferred Hornblower has been the leading yacht and public dining cruise company in the United States for more than 38 years.
