We are seeking an experienced purchasing manager to handle our company's procurement activities. The purchasing manager's responsibilities include developing purchasing strategies, maintaining positive relationships with suppliers, coordinating with internal teams regarding their supply needs, and overseeing the purchasing team in their daily activities.
This opportunity is hybrid, preference will be given to candidates that can partially work from one of our offices located in Dallas (TX), Ankeny (IA) or Olathe (KS); some travel is expected (20% or less)
Main Job responsibilities include:
Assesses, manages, and navigates risks in supply chain management
Negotiates national programs with key suppliers
Actively reviews suppliers and collaboratively shares feedback in an effort to improve our supply chain
Evaluates suppliers and works with local teams to establish primary, secondary, and tertiary suppliers for each category
Consolidates suppliers to favor support with national programs
Reviews potential new suppliers and actively learns the details of relevant product lines
Drives financial performance by improving margin, gaining favorable terms, and growing rebate programs in a way that does not add cost to face of invoice pricining
Partners with local leadership to ensure clear requirements documentation
Leads national purchasing calls
Collaborates with Sales Finance Team to capture cost savings, maximize margins, and remain competitive on pricing
Develops KPIs and trains purchasing team to execute in a way that drives performance
Coordinates sales forecasting efforts and builds plans with purchasing team to ensure right levels of inventory
Reviews and approves large purchase orders for programs and projects
Works with suppliers to optimize freight solutions to achieve best landed cost
Works with accounting team to accurately accrue for rebates and incentives from suppliers
Actively engages in continuous learning and best practices within ERP to optimize system utilization for purchasing team
Qualifications for the role:
5+ years of millwork distribution and/or dealer experience
Experience working with ERP and CRM systems
Knowledgeable in purchasing and inventory management best practices
Adept problem solver and critical thinker
Expert negotiator
Strong communicator
Reliable working with confidential information
Capable in Microsoft Office suite, highly functional with Excel and PowerPoint
