Johns Manville is currently seeking qualified applicants for a Division Operations Excellence Leader. The role is to improve manufacturing costs and ensure excellence in operational and product performance. The incumbent in this position will be responsible for leading standardization, quality and cost-out programs across various plants. Position reports directly to the Director, Operations for our Engineered Products Group.
Ideal candidate has experience in or with manufacturing facilities, a passion for continuous improvement, utilizing data for analysis/decision making and a drive for results. Previous experience in an operations excellent position, Six Sigma and Lean are helpful but not required. Proven collaboration and influencing skills are a must.
This is a great role for someone interested in becoming a plant manager or someone who is currently in plant leadership role and want to broaden their skills for a bigger role.
This position can be based at any of the following locations: Denver, CO; Toledo, OH; Etowah, TN; or Spartanburg, SC.

Develop and implement standard management processes to improve overall productivity and operational consistency. Further development of the JM Asset Performance Management System , development of tools to support the different workflows.
Perform plant assessments to determine plant implementation of processes and provide appropriate feedback when needed
Review data on product performance and work with plants and technical groups to improve product capability. Build and implement IT tools to allow process/product parameter correlations
Assist plants in developing and maintaining productivity projects to meet operational targets and report given results monthly.
Review spend and labor usage trends in the plants to identify potential productivity opportunities
Participate in annual operating plan cycles to identify areas of improvement and goals/focus of the upcoming year
Perform ad-hoc reporting analyses related to equipment/plant curtailment options and cost modeling
Cooperate with the OPEX leaders of the EU organization to achieve alignment in the tools and management processes
May be required to perform other related duties as assigned

Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 8 years work experience in a manufacturing operations environment in succeeding leadership roles
Solid understanding of complete manufacturing processes including knowledge of material receipt and shipment of finished products
Solid understanding of financial costing methods
Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills (Solid/Expert)
Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook (Solid)
Proven project management skills (Solid/Expert)
Solid knowledge of advanced statistical methods
Strong leadership skills (Solid)
Strong understanding and use of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principles (Solid)
Ability to interface at all levels of the organization, both internally and externally (Solid)
Moderate travel required (11 -- 29 days per year)
Work environment is typical of an office setting. When in the manufacturing facility, may be exposed to environmental conditions of cold, heat, high noise levels, moving mechanical parts, heights, dust/mist/gas/fumes, extensive walking or climbing, etc.
