Position Overview

As the Division Manager, the general role is to coordinate business operations for the Pillar Knoxville Division along with assessing division performance, solving customer issues, allocating resources, assigning work, implementing company procedures and recruiting employees.

This individual will provide leadership and assistance to employees supporting a wide range of trades through various construction, mechanical, and industrial projects. This position will require a flexible schedule that may include extended hours, weekends, holidays and evenings.

The Division Manager will report to the VP of Operations and will work primarily out of the Knoxville location.

What You'll Do

• Coordinating daily operations of the Knoxville, TN Division

• Establishing operational and administrative policies, relaying instructions and procedural revisions to management staff, and keeping employees informed on job related information

• Continuously improving all aspects of divisional operations to improve quality of service, efficiency of department, employee and equipment performance

• Managing workflow and inventory to support daily operations

• Overseeing and scheduling manpower for the division

• Overseeing cleanliness and organization of the shop

• Making decisions regarding hiring, discipline and promotion of subordinates, authorizing overtime and leaves of absence, and reviewing employee performance

• Following proper safety and incident reporting procedures

• Ensuring proper communication to VP of Operations on all pertinent issues

• Listening and responding immediately with an appropriate amount of concern to all customer and employee issues

• Performing other duties as assigned and assist in other areas of the company as required

What You'll Bring

• Experience as a manager in an industrial setting required

• High school diploma required

• College degree in related field is preferred

• Prior administrative / management experience in managing complex and multi-faceted operations with competing priorities is required

• Knowledge of sound and consistent management practices and principles, including well developed human relation skills

• Demonstrated leadership abilities with excellent communications skills

• Demonstrated ability to effectively plan, organize and supervise subordinate personnel

• Effective and diplomatic verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills

• Must be dependable; trustworthy; and possess a positive and productive attitude

• Must be able to work well with co-workers in a team environment

• Demonstrate a keen awareness of safety and safe practices and making safety a top priority

• Willingness to undergo a thorough background and drug screening process is required

Working Conditions

• Walk / use hands and fingers, handle or feel objects, tools or controls / reach with hands and arms / climb ladders and stairs / crawl / kneel

• Wear safety equipment: as per OSHA/MSHA requirements including but not limited steel toed and/or metatarsal shoes, hard hat, lanyard, fire retardant, protective eye wear, etc.
