Description:
This is a full-time 12-month position working for the North Cook Regional Office of Education/Intermediate Service Center (NCISC) in collaboration with 39 districts, two special education cooperatives, our Regional Safe School, and Student Advocates within the North Cook Region. The DEIB & Wellness Coordinator works directly with the North Cook Leadership Team and reports to the Director of Education & Professional Learning in an office environment and out in the field within our school districts. This individual will require knowledge of staff and organizational DEIB and wellness needs; ability to assess and suggest strategies to enhance DEIB and wellness with educational teams; improve systems and processes for the good of staff, students, and the community; share suggested policy revisions and approaches; and utilize adult learning theory to support ongoing administrator, teacher, staff, team, and parent professional learning.
This role requires a visionary with exceptional collaboration, presentation, problem-solving skills in the area of adult learning, specifically aligned to DEIB and wellness supports. It is important to this position to effectively achieve multiple goals and manage multiple projects simultaneously. A passion to address DEIB and wellness to improve the lives of students, staff, and the community is essential.
Specific work schedule to be developed in collaboration with the Executive Director based on the North Cook calendar (generally, Monday-Friday, business hours).
Job Summary
Examine organizational DEIB and wellness via a needs assessment and assist in the development of an action plan based on data, i.e. Trauma Responsive Schools Implementation Assessment (TRS-IA), the Intercultural Development Inventory (IDI), and/or the Mid-Atlantic Education Consortium's Equity Audit
Work with NCISC staff, teachers, educational teams, administrators, families/parents/guardians, and/or adolescents with a focus on DEIB and wellness supports
Offer workshops to NCISC staff, teachers, educational teams, administrators, families/parents/guardians in order to provide DEIB and wellness support in a variety of areas
Improve systems and processes for the good of staff, students, and the community
Share suggested policy revisions and approaches through an DEIB and wellness lens
Utilize a Train-the-Trainer model (TtT) to schools and districts to implement sustaining DEIB and wellness strategies aligned to established goals or district-wide/school-wide improvement plans or DEIB/Wellness needs inventories
Complete monthly and quarterly reports
Complete other responsibilities as assigned

Physical Demands:
The employee is required to:
Travel independently to various North Cook County districts, schools, and our office as required
Operate office equipment, sit, and occasionally reach with hands and arms
Frequently stand, walk, sit, see, talk and hear
Occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds; such as files, boxes, and paper supplies
Regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds; such as files, boxes, and paper supplies
Use computer monitors, laptop, and type on the keyboard as needed
Qualifications:
A Bachelor's degree is required. Experience in a DEIB role is essential either within education, at the corporate level, or as a consultant. Experience using DIEB assessments to determine organizational, systemic, and staff needs is required.
Salary/Benefits
The Coordinator will earn a salary of approximately $75,000-$80,000 depending on experience. This position includes the following benefits:

North Cook will provide 12 vacation days, 12 sick days, and 2 personal days. Also, North Cook ROE/ISC observes the following Federal and State holidays: 4th of July, Labor Day, Indigenous Peoples' Day, Election Day 2024, Veterans' Day, Thanksgiving, Martin Luther King Jr.'s Birthday, President's Day, Easter Holiday, Memorial Day, and Juneteenth; as well as a 2-week winter break that includes Christmas and New Years Day.
