The District Rehabilitation Supervisor (DRS) is responsible for directing and organizing the rehabilitation services within the Asheville district office for Services for the Blind serving a given number of counties.

Job responsibilities include:

  • This position involves day-to-day supervision of rehabilitation counselors serving the various counties as well as supervision of Support Staff.

  • This position involves the administration of a district office case service budget.

  • This position participates in the planning and development of the rehabilitation program to meet the needs of blind and visually impaired clients within the service area.

  • This employee is involved in direct supervision of all non-independent counselors and provides consultation and interpretation to those with independent status.

  • This position is responsible for developing individual PMP plans with the counselors under the DRS's supervision, for reviewing them, and for doing annual PMP reviews.

  • This position receives technical and administrative guidance from the Area Rehabilitation Supervisor.

Physical Requirements (If applicable)

  • Physical requirements include some stooping, crouching, reaching standing and walking to get from place to place sedentary work and may require lifting occasionally of up to 10 pounds.

  • Subject to inside environmental conditions and may have to perform operations which include analyzing data and figures, transcribing, viewing and operating a computer terminal and operation of light office machines i.e. copiers and fax machines.

Master s degree in rehabilitation counseling, counseling, or a closely related human services field from an appropriately accredited institution and three years of experience in a rehabilitation service program or closely related area including one year of supervisory experience;

OR

Current certification as a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor by the Commission on Rehabilitation Counselor Certification (CRCC) and three years of experience in a rehabilitation service program or closely related area including one year of supervisory experience;

OR

An equivalent combination of education and experience.
