Responsibilities

At Office Depot, the District Manager is responsible for the overall presentation, financial results, execution of company programs and direction of 15-20 store locations .; This position is also responsible to support the company culture, which includes but is not limited to consistent customer service,; sales culture, store presentation and operational excellence.

Required to travel, as needed,; to each store location on a regular basis. The DM completes; DM Audits/Store reviews each month,; as well as coach and develop the management team within the different stores.; Ensures total store compliance with all company policies, and communicates these policies to all employees in a developmental, associate-oriented manner.;

Cultivates a consultative selling environment through coaching and feedback to all members of the management and employee teams.; Work with organizations outside of the store to make Office Depot a leader within the local business community.

Qualifications

Bachelors degree or equivalent experience plus a minimum of seven years multi-store management experience, including at least two years as a Store Manager, preferably in a mid-size to large retail service-orientated environment, or demonstration of skills and learning through an internal development program and selection process.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: * Solicit, negotiate and confirm new and repeat business through various efforts (outside sales calls, telemarketing, direct mail, referrals, networking, internet prospecting, etc) to maximize revenues to meet/exceed goals. * Prospect for new business. Track all leads (lost and turndown). Participate in transient, group and catering lead referral. Complete Sales Qualification Sheets on all accounts, as instructed. * Conduct research on client room nights/revenue performance, prepare account performance reports quarterly and annually, conduct semi-annual account review meetings with account representatives. * Plan for and execute inside/outside calls and client entertainment with Corporate Travel Managers, Travel Agents and other intermediaries. * Respond to customer inquiries and request for pricing. * Create and distribute effective internal and external communication (written and verbal). * Set and negotiate, with direction from property Executive Committee and potentially Regional Team, all rates for special corporate/preferred corporate accounts locally and brand (if applicable) volume negotiated accounts. Complete all portions of Brand RFP (Request for Proposal) process and local account RFP process. * Record, notify and coordinate customer specifications with other departments and quickly, efficiently respond to customer issues, comments and problems to ensure a quality experience and enhance future sales prospects. * Develop and implement creative sales strategy by analyzing historical, current and future hotel/market/account trends. * Maintain regular communication with all special corporate/preferred corporate accounts and send quarterly production reports to all clients. Communication to be property defined may include newsletters, client receptions/recognition functions, etc. * Coordinate local transient sales initiative and activities with Brand National Transient Sales for national and regional transient accounts. * Understand transient sales strategies, strengths and weaknesses, and transient promotional programs (i.e. Secretary's Club) of competitor transient hotels. * Compile and present monthly sales reporting to management. KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS: Education: Four year college degree or equivalent education/experience Experience: A minimum of one year sales experience in a related position with this company or other another organization. Hotel sales experience preferred. Skills and Abilities: * Advanced knowledge of sales/hospitality principles and practices * Ability to investigate and analyze current activities or information in the sales/marketing field and make logical conclusions and recommendations. * Previous experience in transient account sales and/or group sales, Delphi experience, working knowledge of industry reports (i.e. Hotelligence) preferred.
