Position Title: District Sales Manager

Location: Centrally Based in Manchester, New Hampshire

Reports To: Regional Sales Director

The District Sales Manager (DSM) provides direction and leadership to a group of assigned Yankee Candle stores and is responsible to drive district sales and profitability plans to meet or exceed sales revenue to budget. They will be able to lead by example as a "Sales Leader" by teaching and demonstrating Yankee Candle standards. This position is perfect for someone who enjoys an organization that moves swiftly, is open to change, and for someone who really cares about providing and demonstrating exceptional guest service-and can correlate that behavior with driving sales.

District #4 is centrally based in Manchester and includes stores in New Hampshire, Maine, and Massachusetts:

  • New Hampshire Locations: Keene, Manchester, Merrimack, Newington, North Conway, Nashua, Salem, Seabrook, Tilton, West Lebanon

  • Maine Locations: Kittery, South Portland

  • Massachusetts Locations: Leominster, Lynnfield, Peabody

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for all visual presentations and standards by ensuring the effective implementation of all visual direction, with urgency and proper planning.

  • Ensures that total presentation and display of merchandise is impactful, customer focused, and maximizes sales, and that company standards are being followed including plan-o-grams, cleanliness, marketing/signage, and sales promotions.

  • Recruits, hires, trains, and develops "sales" oriented management teams and sales associates as part of our Succession Plan.

  • Ability to handle both positive and negative Human Resource issues through coaching, documenting, praising/rewarding, disciplining, and communicating/taking partnership with the Regional Sales Director and HR Representative as necessary.

  • Confirm operational guidelines are being followed by completing Store Performance Summaries during all store visits to ensure all selling, visual, and operational guidelines are being followed.

  • Monitors, assists, and provides guidance on controlling expenses by reviewing P&L Statements, proper use of labor model and scheduling, monitoring supplies, postage, and phone expenses.

  • Ensures successful new store opening through coordinating, organizing, developing, and executing an opening plan through grand opening day.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years multi-unit retail management experience with increasing responsibility required.

  • Experience recruiting, hiring, training, and developing sales staff is necessary.

  • Ability to act as a leader, diplomat, coach, counselor, trainer, investigator, and facilitator as needed depending upon the situation.

  • Proven record of achieving and maintaining successful sales goals, P&L responsibility, and inventory control.

  • Demonstrated understanding of high-quality service techniques and philosophy, including customer service/guest engagement, problem/complaint resolution, and clear ability to effectively perform and train these tasks in a retail setting.

  • Excellent interpersonal, problem solving, organizational, and time management skills.

  • Ability to delegate effectively with appropriate follow-up.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with demonstrated computer skills.

  • Ability to travel using company-car and/or plane occasionally with minimal notice.

  • Flexibility in work schedule is required including the ability to work extended hours, weekends, and holidays as operational need may require.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Multi-unit specialty retail management experience.

  • High school diploma or equivalent plus 2 to 4 years of college or equivalent experience preferred.

Job Summary The Associate Brand Manager (ABM) has responsibilities supporting categories in the Scented Candle Business Unit. Specifically, in this role, the ABM is responsible for the owning the business analytics tools, that will help other ABM's and Brand Managers responsible for developing and implementing strategies that drive growth for Newell Brands and our customers by meeting consumer needs. This role may focus on areas like innovation (innovation pipeline, commercialization, project management, consumer research, graphics development) or may focus on base business management (product portfolio, market analytics, dashboard creation, pricing, short- and long-term planning as well other adhoc analyses). In order to accomplish this, the Associate Brand Manager will leverage resources like syndicated data, shopper and consumer insights, and category and industry trends to help make decisions. The Associate Brand Manager will be a key team player, working cross-functionally with R&D, Industrial Design, Sales, Channel Marketing, CMI, Finance, Graphics, Sourcing and Supply Chain. Specific Responsibilities Specific responsibilities will include, but are not limited to: Category Analytics & Insights * Uses quantitative syndicated market data as well as qualitative consumer studies to understand key product/portfolio/brand performance metrics and develop an unparalleled understanding of the consumer. Develops an understanding of the underlying drivers and interaction of each metric. * Applies understanding of the consumer to both short and long-term decisions. Drives key consumer analysis to aid in decision making and development of category strategy. * Identifies gaps in marketplace understanding and leads analyses to fill these gaps. * Gives input to the Consumer & Market Insights (CMI) team on the learning objectives and action standards for insight projects. * Acts as a point of contact with our IRI partners, maintains, and submits New items and has the ability to become an expert within IRI and syndicated data. Portfolio Management * Acts like an entrepreneur or business owner in managing a complete portfolio of products that deliver millions of dollars of revenue & profit to the company. Takes an owner's mindset in making recommendations for the portfolio to benefit consumers, customers, and company. * Continually assesses the performance of items within the portfolio and develops & executes plans to increase growth, stop declines, exit, or enhance performance compared to competition. Owns the creation and maintenance of dashboards and other reporting to support. * Supports portfolio management process by identifying SKUs to deprioritize/exit as new innovation comes to market. * Analyzes shopper insights and market data to recommend pricing objectives, strategies, and guardrails for product lines and SKUs. Acts as a champion of the brand for the business. * Executes against clear objectives for brand communication and can articulate the brand's vision for short and long-term success. * Participates in development of integrated marketing plans and programming to support the Strategic Plan and utilize the full marketing mix of advertising, promotions, and trade, working with the Brand Activation and Channel Marketing teams. * Participates in briefing agencies on communication objectives, advertising and media plans as needed. Qualifications: * Four-year college degree. * 2-4 years of analytics experience, ideally in brand management, channel management, or consumer insights for a CPG, durable, or professional products company. * Ability to function as a business owner. * Experience o Cross-functional project management. o Strong communication skills, written and oral. o Proven ability to work on a team. * Proficient in Microsoft Office applications with Advanced Excel skills * Experience with Power BI preferred by not required. * Experience with IRI preferred by not required. * Up to 10% travel potential. * Fluent in English.
