POSITION SUMMARY:

Responsible for the NAPA Heating/Cooling Group sales activities at every level of distribution (distribution center, store, dealer/fleet, and end-user). Accountable for the effective management of sales programs, expense budgets, territory planning, divisional, and customer initiatives. District results will be measured in terms of achieving the external business objectives (E.B.O.) through Jobber purchases and local sales. Objectives will be expressed in reasonable year to year growth, control of expenses, and overall district and region management.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Other duties may be assigned beyond the core functions listed below.

  • Present and implement sales support programs and promotions to assigned customers.

  • Research and develop target lists of potential customers.

  • Maintain up-to-date understanding of industry trends and technical developments that effect target markets.

  • Make regular sales calls to develop relationships and follow up on leads.

  • Implement distribution strategies to accelerate growth of new and additional products and/or new markets.

  • Maintain an effective communication path with the customer to ensure sales opportunities for products.

  • Develop and maintain long and short range sales and marketing plans according to customer needs.

  • Monitor competitive environment to identify opportunities and countermeasures to address competition.

  • Supporting customer activities ie: stock resets, dealer events, surveys etc.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Functions as an individual contributor with no supervisory responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • College degree preferred but not required,

  • A minimum of 2 years automotive aftermarket or sales experience is preferred

  • Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook preferred

REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Suite and other ERP systems, such as Oracle.

  • Must be self-confident and able to plan, organize, implement, and follow-up, accept and adapt to change while being prompt, professional and responsive to customer needs.

  • Effectively able to manage sales programs for a variety of vendor partners and manage sales planning with multiple customers.

  • Must be able to accurately complete daily, weekly, or monthly expense or other assigned reports on time, including organizing sales prospects, sales planning, or other sales support projects as assigned.

  • Must be able to work both as an individual as well as in a team environment with peer employees and as part of a system selling group supporting the NAPA Distribution Center and stores.

  • Experience partnering with business leaders on developing and driving global initiatives.

  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Suite and other ERP systems, such as Oracle.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Travels frequently (40-50%) covering a marketing area with a 300 mile radius. Works out of office in own home and in the field, where conditions vary. It is common for District Managers to work numerous evenings, weekends and unusually long hours. Out of territory work can take place for events such as National Sales Conference, customer changeovers, training sessions, etc.
