The Georgia Department of Public Health is the lead agency entrusted bythe people of the state of Georgia with the ultimate responsibility forthe health of communities and the entire population.

The agencyis seeking a highly qualified candidate for the position of ProgramManager within the North Health District in Gainesville, GA.

TheDistrict Program Manager plans, organizes, directs, and coordinates thedelivery of public health services; develops, interprets, and implementsrelated policies and procedures; monitors and evaluates public healthprograms and directs subordinate managers and staff.

The program manager will be the supervisor of (5) program coordinatorsin the district, including the Immunization Program Coordinator; the

Children's First Program Coordinator; the Babies Can't Wait ProgramCoordinator; the Children's Medical Services Program Coordinator; the

Women's Health Coordinator.

This individual will also supervise (2)Health Educators: one who addresses Adolescent Health concerns and theother who focuses on Chronic Disease Prevention and Tobacco UsePrevention.

In addition to supervision, this individual will assistthe coordinators/educators in developing innovative strategies that willensure programmatic success. They will need to be familiar withoutreach efforts and willing to participate in community events asneeded. Although our coordinators/educators work directly with ourfinance staff to ensure their budgets are managed properly, thisindividual will need to be familiar with the programmatic budgets ofeach of these programs and willing to attend meetings with program staffand finance staff.

  • Organizes and manages the collectionof a broad range of data required to assess the health needs of the

District; analyzes collected health assessment data and produces reportsand presentations to communicate the information to multiple audiences;develops policies and plans based on needs revealed in communityassessment.

  • Meets with county Boards of Health and countyofficials at the request of the District Health Director, or as needed,to interpret programs, program needs, and new policies, to requestadditional funds, or for other matters.

  • Competes for and secures public and private funding to enhance programs and services for the public.

  • Workswith individual program leaders in the preparation of budgets accordingto established formats, guidelines, and due dates; ensures that budgetsare developed within allowed tolerances in budget categories.

  • Workswith the District Administrator to match budgets to availableresources, monitor budget adherence, and make adjustments as required byfinancial circumstances.

Master's degree in a related field from an accredited college or university AND Three years of experience performing work related to area of assignment, One year of which in a supervisory role OR Bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited college or university AND Five years of experience performing work related to area of assignment, Two years of which in a supervisory role OR One year of experience at the lower level Healthcare Prgm Consultant 3 (HCP092) or position equivalent. POSITION: DIESEL EQUIPMENT TECHNOLOGY PROGRAM DIRECTOR and INSTRUCTOR - Hall County Campus REPORTS TO: Dean of Applied Technology SALARY: Upper $50's to mid $60's, depending on education & experience RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsible for teaching Diesel Equipment Technology courses and for the general effectiveness of course organization, administration, and outcomes assessment. MAJOR DUTIES: * Under general supervision, develops program and course outlines, goals and objectives * Prepares lesson plans for classroom instruction for credited Diesel Equipment Technology courses * Evaluates students' progress in attaining goals and objectives * Requests and maintains supplies and equipment and prepares required budget requests * Maintains program certification requirements, as appropriate * Prepares and maintains all required documentation and administrative reports * Ensures safety and security requirements are met in the training area * Meets with students, staff members and other educators to discuss students' instructional programs and other issues impacting the progress of the students * Assists with recruitment, retention and job placement efforts * Work with Dean to coordinate the hiring of adjunct instructors * Manages administrative responsibilities related to scheduling, developing syllabi and teaching courses * Also performs various duties as Program Director, i.e. responsible for management of all adjunct personnel and provides all information to complete various departmental and College reports * Will assure that all programmatic standards are met * Responsible for administrative duties related to student advisement, advisory committee meetings, and program development * Other duties as assigned by Dean MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: * Technical Diploma in Diesel Equipment Technology from a regionally accredited college or university *AND* three (3) years of work experience in a position related to Diesel Equipment Technology. * Must be credentialed to satisfy all appropriate accrediting agencies * The ability to work flexible hours and teach at multiple campuses as needed TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES: * Ability to teach all phases of the Medium/Heavy Diesel truck curriculum * A comprehensive knowledge of Diesel equipment service, including experience with maintenance, diagnosis, troubleshooting, and repair * Ability to develop instructional materials, evaluate students' progress in achieving instructional goals and objectives, and ensure safety and security requirements are met in the training area * Ability to obtain and maintain NATEF Accreditation in the Heavy Diesel area * Knowledge of the mission of postsecondary technical education * Ability to work and communicate cooperatively with students, faculty, and staff * Ability to handle administrative responsibilities related to teaching of courses, data collection, and reporting for license agency, accreditation agencies, and the College * Skill in the operation of computers and job-related software programs * Effective oral and written communication skills, decision-making and problem solving skills Note: No phone inquiries please.
