Job Description:

Responsible for overseeing the management of all food service operations at multiple sites, promoting quality, sanitation, safety, and delivery service to ensure superior service in a correctional environment. Plan, direct and coordinate the activities associated with a variety of routine and non-routine tasks in the daily operations of multiple food service units.

Essential Job Functions

  • Implement short/long term financial and operational plans supporting overall planned objectives

  • Assist with new programs resulting in an increased level of satisfaction and operational excellence

  • Assist the performance of operations through verification and analysis of satisfaction systems

  • Ensure that managers forecast needs of all satellite locations, prepare necessary orders and ensure proper daily deliveries of all menu items through cost effective and timely purchases

  • Ensure that managers and staff prepare food on time to meet nutritional standards, Department of Health standards, contract standards and is visually appealing

  • Ensure that managers maintain adequate inventory levels to deliver quality service and compile and cost inventory as needed for financial reviews

  • Assist with and maintain a proactive human resource function to ensure staff motivation, training and development to comply with established labor regulations, goals and objectives

Requirements

Job Requirements:

  • Ability to lead a team in a high volume food production environment

  • Ability to motivate and supervise team members to attain quality and quantity of food production in a correctional work environment

  • Contract-management service experience is preferred

  • Solid mathematical and analytical skills in financial reporting, as well as maintaining accurate records required by governing agencies

  • Strong training skills, cost controls experience and the ability to effectively lead a kitchen management team is strongly desired

  • Strong oral and written communication skills

  • Ability to exercise good judgment and tact

  • Proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications is required

  • Ability to understand profit and loss statements is preferred

  • Must qualify for and maintain correctional facility security clearance

Education/Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred; High School diploma/GED plus equivalent experience required

  • ServSafe Certified

  • At least five (5) years' of food service experience, preferably in a correctional setting

  • Previous multi-unit supervisory experience is preferred

  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret food and technical reports and journals, and financial reports.

  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as recipe conversion, weekly operating reports, financial statements, etc. Ability to apply said concepts to practical situations

  • Must have experience with purchasing, inventory, ordering, receiving and cost control

  • Proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications is required

VIEW JOBS 5/22/2020 12:00:00 AM 2020-08-20T00:00 The Chickahominy Health District's Women, Infants and Children (WIC) program is seeking a highly motivated individual to join their team. This position is based out of the Hanover Health Department and requires travel throughout the Chickahominy Health District. The four-county district includes: Hanover, Goochland, New Kent and Charles City. The ideal applicant must be skilled in interviewing and documentation using medical terminology as required. This position provides assessment of biochemical values, dietary needs and growth or maternal weight patterns for pregnant women, infants and children. Provides high-risk nutrition education and develops nutritional care plans for clients. Facilitates nutrition education classes and makes referrals to a variety of community programs. May perform other related administrative tasks. Serves as backup to the WIC supervisor as needed. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited college or university with major course work in dietetics or nutrition, with "two years of work experience in nutrition or dietetics concurrent with or subsequent to completion of such degree" (Per Code of Virginia - Chapter 27.1. Dietitians and Nutritionists, § 54.1-2731) The ideal candidate will have knowledge of the basic principles and practices of medical nutrition therapy, knowledge of the interviewing/counseling process concentrating in maternal and child issues, and knowledge of breastfeeding management. Experience in preparing education materials and presenting classes is required. Must have the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a diverse team; effectively communicate both orally and in writing with staff and clients. Proficiency in Microsoft Office required. Preferred Qualifications Direct experience in public health nutrition or WIC experience preferred. A strong, demonstrated commitment to meeting the needs of the customers is highly desired. Breastfeeding experience and/or certification in lactation management through an LEAARC approved course, or IBCLC status, is preferred. Having registered dietitian nutritionist status is preferred. Candidates that are bilingual will be given strong consideration, preferably Spanish/English. Special Requirements This is a restricted position which is solely funded by the WIC program for a year ending each September 30th. The availability of funding is scheduled for review before the grant expiration date and periodically thereafter. Employment is contingent on the continued availability of grant or non-general funds. Employment is contingent upon satisfactory results of a state and federal criminal history background check and the Department of Social Service's Child Abuse and Neglect Central Registry check, U.S. HHS IG Exclusion List check, employment reference check, and E-Verify. The selected candidate must complete a Statement of Personal Economic Interests as a condition of employment, if applicable (Va. Code § 2.2-3114).
