Position Purpose

The District Manager is principally responsible for building, maintaining and institutionalizing an environment that supports the Boot Barn mission, demonstrating the highest level of leadership in support of exemplary customer service, manager development/engagement, merchandising standards and store operations. Our district managers are business drivers whose key role is to lead a team of stores who exceed sales goals and delight customers by leading and owning all customer facing and operational elements within their store. The District Manager will partner their Regional Director, Regional Human Resources, and Store Support Center Partners in pursuit of year-over-year increases and a best in class internal/external customer experience, ensuring consistent profitability of the business through optimized staffing, shrink awareness/performance and expense management.

Essential Job Functions

SALES

  • Achieve/Exceed district budgeted sales plan.

  • Lead district team to foster a service and selling culture, exceed customer expectations and build consumer relationships that will be enduring.

  • Partner with store leadership teams to plan and execute successful volume driving events that involve outreach to the local community/market. (Ex. CA's, events, etc.).

  • Develop the skills of leadership teams to ensure customers receive the highest level of service through creating an engaging customer centric selling and service environment, accurate product knowledge, maintain SSC merchandising standards, and all other components of customer service

  • Identify/analyze/react to changing business trends w/in each market to meet or exceed key metrics and sales goals.

  • Build partnerships w/ SSC partners to identify ways to accelerate sales w/in your district.

People

  • Observe and coach team on building customer engagement and expansion of our rewards program, explain the benefits of the program and how to increase participation with each customer interaction.

  • Develop people strategy for district to include hiring, succession planning, development plans and annual reviews.

  • Identify, select and retain top notch talent. Maintain turnover at or below turnover goal.

  • Hold leadership teams accountable for achieving sales goals and key metrics in addition to operationally sound stores; through frequent recognition of excellence and frequent discussions where goals are not being met.

  • Recognize performance of top talent and build a bench of future leaders, committing to ongoing development of leadership team members to meet various career goals within the company.

  • Partner w/ SM to ensure adequate staffing to meet the changing business needs and payroll expenses

  • Ensure stores are staffed w/ teams that are a reflection of the store's community demographics.

Operations

  • Reviews store schedules to ensure there is appropriate coverage to drive sales during peak times and ensure a consistent fun and meaningful customer experience

  • Understands and leads teams to execute product strategies to include merchandise presentations, promotions and signage.

  • Ensure appropriate merchandise stock levels, merchandise adjacencies and presentations, signing and assortments to meet the needs of the customer along with adhering to all Company visual presentation guidelines.

  • Understand/utilize company reporting to build department categories throughout district. Ensure SM's have a clear understanding of reporting.

  • Partner w/ SSC team to react to merchandise needs.

  • Prioritize store visits based on the needs of the business; exercising flexibility with schedule in reacting to the needs of the business. Summarize and communicate visits via a District Manager Visit Guide.

  • Adhere to all company deadlines given by SSC and/or Regional Director.

Other Duties and Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate high degree of professionalism in communication, attitude and teamwork with customers, team members and vendors

  • Demonstrate high level of quality of work, attendance and appearance

  • Work a variety of shifts to meet the business needs including nights, weekends and holidays

  • Ability to be flexible and willing to work extended hours when necessary

  • Adhere to all Company Policies and Procedures and Safety Regulations

  • Adhere to local, state and federal employment laws

  • Travel up to 80% of scheduled shifts

  • Any additional responsibilities assigned by Regional Director or SSC partners

Nature of Supervision

Work with Regional Director to ensure smooth operation of the district and that sales goals are being achieved.

Performance Measures

Sales performance to budget, customer experience scores, payroll to budget, associate retention and shrink

Supervisory Responsibility

  • Directly manages store managers.

  • Inspires the district team to achieve goals; treats all with respect

  • Provides coaching, direction, develops and empowers direct reports

  • Ensures work flow and processes are to maximum efficiencies for business necessity

  • Lead, guide and coach team to accomplish common goals

Education/Experience

  • Associates Degree, and/or 3 to 5 years' experience in retail store management. Experience managing directs reports and leading teams in a selling environment.

  • Demonstrated strong leadership and communication skills

  • Well-developed business acumen including the ability to thoroughly understand all aspects of the business

  • Expert ability and experience in surfacing and analyzing opportunities and risk with the ability to develop and implement follow through plans

  • Strong organizational and time management skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities

VIEW JOBS 10/1/2019 12:00:00 AM 2019-12-30T00:00 Job Description Description JOB DESCRIPTION: The Defense Systems Customer Group currently has a career opportunity for a qualified former AEGIS Fire Controlman (NEC FC-1119 AEGIS Radar System Technician required), who deployed on board a Ballistic Missile Defense (BMD)-configured AEGIS ship, to provide support to the U.S. Fleet Forces (USFF) Ballistic Missile Defense Exercise (BMDEX) training program. The qualified candidate will provide direct assistance to Carrier Strike Group FOUR (CSG 4) and Tactical Training Group, Atlantic (TTGL) as a Training subject matter expert (SME) for the development, implementation, execution and assessment of the training program and requirements to support BMDEX. The candidate must be knowledgeable in SPY-1 B/D operations and have stood watch on an AEGIS ship as a Combat Systems Coordinator (CSC). Training SMEs are highly-skilled persons with knowledge gained over years of experience at senior levels. They promote greater information sharing for staffs and stakeholders. They provide realistic as well as reliable, consistent support and well-developed recommendations to various audiences in training and real world events. They will maintain the integrity of the training objectives, and maintain a knowledge base that is consistent with the requirements that cover the full spectrum of the listed Functional Area duties. SMEs serve as the catalyst for developing and evaluating requirements. They provide the expertise and insight to support programs and leaders at all levels, including very senior levels, civilian and military sectors. They are experienced subject matter experts in their fields of expertise. The ideal candidate for this position is U.S. Navy NEC qualified FC-1119 with at least one recent tour of duty on a BMD-configured AEGIS CG/DDG as a CSC, as well as experience as a Joint Semi-Automated Forces (JSAF) operator. In addition, he/she will have excellent public speaking, presentation, and time management skills, as well as at least four years of applicable Training SME experience in: * Training management * Developing training curricula * Conducting fleet/joint training assessments to identify gaps, training needs, and solutions * Delivering training in person and/or online * Developing and modifying training event/exercise scenarios and curricula * Managing training projects as team and/or project leader * Designing custom training to meet Fleet and Joint training objectives * Engaging senior staff at the Flag Officer/Director/Manager level * Handling multiple priorities and interruptions with minimal impact on productivity/deliverables Specific Functional Area duties include: * Provide subject advice and expertise on evolving defensive systems and ensure that the BMDEX program is aligned with USN warfare training system processes, Navy Warfare Training System (NWTS) processes and the Fleet Training Continuum (FTC). * Develop lessons learned from exercise results, including assessment of Navy Mission Essential Tasks (NMET), and provide these findings to the Government no later than one week following the completion of each event. * Assist in the development, review and delivery of expert academic and operational instruction in BMD systems; tactics, techniques and procedures (TTP); doctrine; and best practices to fleet personnel. This may include hardware and software configuration. This instruction also includes academic and synthetic training provided to AEGIS Ashore teams that deploy to locations within the USEUCOM area of responsibility (AOR). This instruction may periodically involve travel. * Assist with BMD/ Fleet Synthetic Training (FST) coordination, execution and scenario development and integration of live, virtual, and constructive (LVC) simulations into representative real world scenarios. Provide expert knowledge of the Joint Warfare Training System (JWTS), joint training team (JTT), NWTS and NMETs. * Provide assistance and expertise of Aegis weapon system capabilities and employment in support of BMD training events. * Assist with planning and executing BMD FST At Sea Training events. * Assist with planning and executing AEGIS Ashore Watch Team training and certification events. Qualifications REQUIRED EDUCATION / QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS: * U.S. citizen with Secret clearance with the ability to obtain Top Secret/SCI eligibility. * Active military duty experience as a Senior Enlisted Fire Controlman (NEC FC-1119 AEGIS Radar System Technician) qualified as a Combat Systems Coordinator (CSC) on an AEGIS BMD ship, knowledgeable in SPY-1 B/D operations, and an expert in the use of programmable wave form energy and radar operations in support of BMD. * Eight (8) years of technical and general Training SME experience (ten years in lieu of degree will be considered). * Four (4) years of applicable Training SME and Functional Area experience (see detailed tasks above) with BMD requirements, specializing in maritime force capabilities. * Must possess proven written and verbal communication skills at the senior executive level, and be able to act independently. * Must be willing to travel overseas and in CONUS up to 10 percent of the time. DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS: * Bachelor of Arts or Science degree. * Knowledgeable in data entry, operations, and products associated with the AEGIS Mission Planner (AMP). * Five (5) years of experience at the instructor/evaluator level on a strike group or numbered fleet command staff or equivalent DoD training staff involving synthetic BMD mission planning and execution. * Familiarity with entering and evaluating the effectiveness of SPY radar doctrine. * Familiarity and solid understanding of the Navy Composite Warfare Commander (CWC) concept with strong knowledge of air defense, BMD, and Navy strike warfare. * Significant experience with FST utilizing the Navy Continuous Training Environment (NCTE) to conduct scenario development and integration LVC capabilities into a realistic training environment. * Two (2) years' experience as a JSAF operator. * Recent experience in joint and naval exercises, war gaming, and exercise/event planning.
