The District Manager reports directly to Regional Vice President of Operations and supervises a district of Store Managers and Pharmacists to operate efficient stores and pharmacies. They must execute the district/company business plans/objectives to achieve sales, script growth, margin and profitability. Hold entire team accountable to ensure budgets are met. Maintains a keen understanding of the discount retail and pharmacy market including local competitors, advertising, pricing and general market conditions.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Provide leadership in driving sales and traffic within the district.
As needed, partner with Store Managers and Pharmacy Managers to develop, implement and monitor action plans to ensure the achievement of district assigned performance goals.
Provide leadership and development for team members by communicating career opportunities, providing regular performance feedback and coaching, conducting annual reviews and scheduling any and all required training.
Effectively oversee recruiting, hiring, training and supervision of Store Managers and Pharmacists while maintaining an indirect responsibility for team members and other management personnel within district.
Participate in the planning, development and monthly review of district retail budgets to ensure achievement including sales, script growth, margin, labor, expenses, operating income and EBITDA.
Coach and teach store teams as needed to ensure satisfactory shrink results and maintain operating standards expected in all stores.
Ensure assigned Store Managers, Pharmacy Managers and Assistant Managers meet payroll budgets and productivity goals.
Ensure customer service programs are properly implemented and adhered to in order to guarantee a high level of customer satisfaction and loyalty.
Use key performance indicators to monitor and improve customer satisfaction, quality assurance and workflow standards in pharmacy.
Ensure the store pharmacy teams execute on company initiatives and actively build profitable sales and script growth through Clinical Services including immunizations and MTM (Medication Therapy Management).
Execute all corporate marketing, merchandising, pricing and store operations programs to drive sales, script growth and profits in all stores within the district.
Monitor and maintain proper compliance with all federal/state regulations including DEA, HIPAA, etc, and resolve any issues with noncompliance. Implement all training required to bring store/individual into compliance.
Enforce all policies and procedures regarding loss prevention, safety and security.
Conduct frequent pharmacy visits to ensure stores are in compliance with will-call, deletes, pricing, workflow, replenishment, inventory control, DEA controls and overall company standards of operation in the pharmacy. Complete checklist and audits regularly.
Participate in developing district succession plans for all key positions with the Regional Vice President.
Direct the activities associated with store openings, store closings, remodels, resets and script acquisitions and protect market share from competitive openings.
Communicate the status of local competition and local business conditions as required. Keep Regional Vice President informed of any significant changes.
Monitor competitive pricing in the market for both front store and pharmacy.
Ensure all management has successfully completed the Management Training Program, the Management Skills Training Programs and Associate Training Programs.
Communicate changes in policies and procedures to Store Managers and Pharmacy Managers within district and ensure that changes and training are implemented correctly. Personally follow all policies and procedures and set a positive example for team members.
Develop and train future store managers, assistant managers, pharmacy managers and all other leadership positions.
Travel requirements of this position include: local, domestic travel on occasions to attend training sessions, conduct/prepare for physical inventories, monitor/complete projects and review marketplace conditions.
Knowledge & Skills:
Ability to manage multiple stores and pharmacies to include but not limited to, working with budgets and ensuring staff is trained and knowledgeable on company policies and procedures.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as profit and loss statements, safety rules, operating instructions and procedure manuals.
Knowledge of current pharmacy regulations.
Proven ability to drive results.
Ability to adapt in a dynamic work environment and make independent decisions.
Up to 60% overnight travel may be required in order to complete the requirements associated with this position.
Must be able to combine strategic vision with tactical execution to drive favorable results and maximize shareholder value.
Must be fully trained in store and pharmacy operational procedures and possess a strong working knowledge of the store and pharmacy industry.
