Job Title: District Instructional Technology Coach

Department: Curriculum & Instruction

Days of Work: 220 (12 month) FLSA Status: Exempt

MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

The District Instructional Technology Coach holds a minimum of a Master's degree and a valid South Carolina teaching certificate. Teaching certificate may be substituted with other appropriate, advanced knowledge, and experience.

Five years of successful classroom teaching experience or professional training, and experience in a variety of instructional technologies and technology integration. He or she would be expected to seek or hold a certificate as a South Carolina mentor and Google Level 1 or 2 certification. Reports to the Deputy Superintendent of Academics.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Inspires and participates in the development and implementation of a shared vision for the comprehensive integration of technology to promote excellence and support transformational change throughout the in-person and virtual instructional environment.

Through group/individual coaching, assist teachers in using technology effectively for assessing student learning, differentiating instruction, and providing rigorous, relevant and engaging learning experiences for all students.

Models and promotes digital citizenship, designs flexible learning environments, and integrates the use of technology to maximize the instructional learning process for classroom teachers.

Conducts needs assessments and works with staff to define their personalized technology training needs.

Work with schools to implement ISTE standards for students, teachers, and administrators.

Engage in continuous professional learning opportunities to deepen professional knowledge and skills.

Ability to use a variety of software, hardware, and online resources in support of curricular and district goals (i.e. PowerSchool, PowerTeacher Gradebook, MasteryConnect, Google Workspace, Schoology, Edlio, etc.)

Ability to master new technologies quickly and evaluate their effectiveness in the classroom.

Willingness to experiment with new and innovative practices.

Ability to evaluate tools and instructional practices in light of broader academic goals.

Demonstrates the capacity to be self-directed, organized, and collaborative in nature.

Coordinates assigned projects and initiatives for the improvement of technology integration and for the improvement of administrative operations.

Interacts and communicates well with various individuals and groups in the performance of duties such as co-workers, school personnel, consultants, etc.

Continuously evaluates, plans and conducts professional development both in-person and online for certified staff including but not limited to principals, teachers, school librarians, Instructional Facilitators, and other groups as requested.

Supports all aspects of the Digital Learning Initiative and District Strategic Plan.

Leads the development, evaluation, and enhancement of the technology proficiency program.

Conducts ongoing research and development for identifying and implementing best practices and pedagogies for instructional improvement through the use of technology.

Ability to troubleshoot and problem-solve for technological problems.

Operates a vehicle in traveling to a location.

Performs other related duties as assigned to support the efforts of the district in implementing the district's strategic plan.

ADDITIONAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Moves, sets up, and arranges computer equipment and audio-visual equipment as needed.

Assists other departments in developing technology-related presentations and workshops.

Performs routine administrative/office tasks as required, including but not limited to preparing reports and correspondence, copying and filing documents, answering the telephone, sending and receiving faxes, entering and retrieving computer data, etc.

Performs related duties as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS OR STANDARDS REQUIRED TO PERFORM ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Knowledge:

Knowledge of computers and peripheral devices, hardware, software, and operations. Knowledgeable in the areas of online applications and Web content development and management (i.e.

Google Workspace ( formerly Google Suite for Education, Docs, Slides, Gmail, Forms). Knowledgeable in the areas of existing and emerging learning management systems and virtual schooling. Advanced knowledge in developing and promoting 21st-century technology integration with curriculum and classroom management. Knowledge of related software applications being used by end users.

Knowledge of the records and reports which must be prepared and maintained. Knowledgeable in the use/operations of computers/networks and the entry and maintenance of related information and data. Knowledgeable in best practices in effective training and professional development delivery methods.

Skills/Effort:

Ability to understand and execute moderately complex oral and written instructions. Ability to understand and apply district policies and procedures.

Ability to provide effective training, guidance and instruction to equipment users. Ability to design, organize and conduct professional development in varied settings with varied audiences using district-enabled technologies. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, employees and the general public.

Good verbal and written communication skills. Ability to perform duties effectively and accurately while maintaining schedules and deadlines. Skilled in applying responsible attention to detail.

Ability to prepare and maintain an assortment of records and reports. Ability to use general office equipment such as a computer, calculator, etc. Ability to safely operate a vehicle.

Working Conditions:

Conducts duties in an office and school environment with no significant exposure to environmental or hazardous conditions. Physical demands are restricted to office and computer service work requiring lifting/moving of items up to fifty pounds.

Frequent local travel and occasional out-of-town travel are required. Job requires the operation of standard office equipment, hand tools, a vehicle, and computer equipment.
