DESCRIPTION: The DBA will work collaboratively with the Special Education Director, Special Education Intervention Team, Principals, special and regular education teachers, and support staff.

The DBA will work with a district team of DBAs in addition to the building team in order to plan, design, and implement professional development to building and district teams. The DBA will also provide training, guidelines, and support to staff in order to effectively implement positive behavior intervention strategies. The DBA will work with building teams to ensure that Behavior Intervention Plans are being provided with fidelity.

Services provided will be based on the principles of applied behavior analysis including the modification of environmental variables, behavior reduction procedures, systematic instruction (e.g., discrete trial teaching, incidental instruction) to teach new and/or adaptive skills, and the maintenance and generalization of skills. The DBA will work with school teams to create programs and transition procedures to ensure that students are accessing their education in the least restrictive environment. Other duties may include supporting and monitoring and training staff on behavior principles as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS: Masters in Psychology, Behavior Analysis, Developmental Psychology, Special Education, or other related degrees.Must have or obtain a Board Certified Behavior Analyst certificate within one year of the hire date.

Experience analyzing, defining, measuring, assessing, characterizing, and ultimately modifying behavior in children ages 3-21 years of age. Ability to lead teams through the analysis of behaviors (FBA's) and subsequent Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) or therapy programs for children with IEPs or other children in need of Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports, Proven experience screening, assessing, and designing educational programs, providing direct therapy and consulting with school staff, parents and outside agencies as appropriate. Strong communication and presentation skills with peers.Strong organizational skills and ability to analyze and report data.

Highly effective in collaborating with a variety of teams.Knowledge of Washington state law pertaining to special education WAC 392-172A and individualized educational plans. Valld WA State driver's license and willingness to travel throughout the district.

PREFERRED: Current Washington State ESA or Teacher's Certificate and/or Board Certified Behavior Analyst degree.

Work attributes include being a team leader, having strong interpersonal abilities, and being an independent hard-worker with a desire to grow BCBA services in the WSD. Experience designing, implementing, modifying, and maintaining behavior programs including proven Applied Behavior Analysis programs for children. Experience in a K-12 learning environment.Proven experience functioning as a member of a public school multidisciplinary team to determine the child's eligibility for services, appropriate programming, and on-going progress.

In addition, a background check, based on fingerprints, will be requested from the Washington State Patrol & FBI. Employment is conditional based upon completion of the record check.
