Job Summary:

The Distribution Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the distribution center to ensure the efficient and accurate processing of inbound and outbound shipments. This role is tasked with driving daily activities while identifying opportunities for continuous improvement, including optimizing workflow and procedures. This role involves coordinating with various departments such as Customer Service, Planning, Quality Control, Sourcing, and Operations to maintain compliance with all safety and quality standards. The supervisor will lead and manage a team of distribution associates, ensuring proper training, adherence to protocols, and high-performance standards. The goal for this role is to ensure timely order fulfillment and overall operational excellence in the distribution center.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead and mentor employees in Shipping, Picking, and Packing functions, ensuring products are picked and packaged according to specifications and shipped in a timely manner.

  • Responsible for day-to-day supervision of team members, which includes time and attendance management and performance management.

  • Maintain reporting tools to reflect the effectiveness and efficiency of department activities. Ensure the warehousing KPIs are defined and measured to support effective operations. Prepare and publish warehousing reports to demonstrate performance while developing action plans for corrections. Prepare/present routine reports as instructed by the manager regarding the shipping and receiving functions.

  • Analyze operations on a continuing basis to make necessary improvements to ensure cross-functional operating efficiencies in the warehouse. Analyze throughput information, capacity planning, flow through, and financial information.

  • Ensure timely and appropriate training of employees in the areas of GMP/GDP, EHS, and Quality Systems. Provide training on safety protocols and efficient handling of medical device components in an FDA-regulated environment.

  • Responsible for maintaining, improving, and updating operational procedures for the area in partnership with Engineering, Inventory Control, Finance, and Quality.

  • Monitor, resolve, and guide associates in basic shipment error remediation and process improvement opportunities, such as item quantities, invoicing, and packaging processes.

  • Manage shipping/receiving records, including the proper retention as defined in our procedures.

Expected Areas of Competence (i.e., knowledge, skills, and abilities)

  • Proficient in ERP systems such as Oracle for integrating and managing core business processes. Familiar with software solutions designed for managing shipping and receiving operations. Experience implementing a new ERP or RFID technology is a plus.

  • Intermediate to Advanced Experience in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.

  • Strong leadership and cross-functional skills; leadership/management background; preferably in logistics areas including shipping/receiving/distribution, and shipment/inventory management within a regulated environment.

  • Effective problem-solving skills, including problem identification, data gathering, solution development, and implementation follow-up.

  • Demonstrated ability to implement process improvement initiatives, utilizing Lean, Six Sigma, or other methodologies to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and improve overall operations in a distribution center.

  • Leadership and motivational skills to expedite the completion of critical project tasks with other functional groups.

  • Ability to work in a highly fast-paced environment and meet established deadlines.

  • Ability to prioritize personal workload to maintain company efficiencies - time management skills.

  • Ability to communicate clearly, both orally and in writing, in a professional manner.

  • Ability to work under minimal supervision.

Education/Experience Requirements

  • Typically requires bachelor's degree in supply chain, engineering, or related technical field preferred.
  • 5-7 years' experience in distribution and or related distribution, warehouse field.
  • 3-5 years of previous supervisory experience required or combination of years of experience in other leadership roles and maintaining positive employee relations.

  • 2nd Shift: 12:00 PM - 9:00 PM
