Job Summary:

A Distribution Manager will be responsible for managing and overseeing the day-to-day activities within our distribution facility.

Nature of Work:

A Distribution Manager verifies and maintains accurate records on incoming and outgoing shipments, inspects shipments, reconciles packing slips or manifests with actual items, and verifies that materials are delivered to the correct departments or properly stored. This position requires considerable contact fellow staff members at the facility, and upper management to attain common goals. This position requires a high degree of independence and is expected to exercise independent judgment. A Distribution Manager must possess excellent managerial skills and must ensure that the department is in compliance with OSHA and Grimco regulations.

Examples of Duties:

  • Prioritize shipping and receiving tasks including creating a timely and accurate delivery schedule.

  • Monitors the shipping and receiving of all materials in the distribution facility.

  • Lead multiple departments on different shifts (1st and 2nd shift only)

  • Monitors shipping and receiving reporting, and movement and storage of materials, and transfers.

  • Maintains an equipment structure and level to accomplish the warehouse and shipping and receiving mission in a safe, effective manner. Provides appropriate equipment and racking to ensure the safe transport and storage of material. Researches material handling equipment to ensure procurement of the most suitable equipment in terms of performance, safety, reliability, and cost.

  • Determines cost effective shipping methods and verifies that complete orders have been shipped and received in accordance with Grimco requirements.

  • Perform duties using a safety-conscious attitude, improving safety knowledge of all employees.

  • Motivate by example - partner with warehouse employees to perform daily activities, and continuously improve performance. Teamwork is key!

  • Communicate effectively and positively with customers, coworkers, vendors, etc.

  • Perform other assigned duties that are within the area of knowledge and skills required by the job.

Job Requirements Skill Sets and Experience Necessary Include:

  • 7-10 years management experience in Distribution environment.

  • College degree preferred, or equivalent experience.

  • Six Sigma certification preferred.

  • Manage warehouse budgets and accountable to results.

  • Accountable to Key Performance Indicators in quality, productivity, and service.

  • Maintain warehouse cleanliness and organization to Grimco standards.

  • Maintain a positive and accountable warehouse staff.

  • Responsible for Hiring, Firing, Coaching, and writing Performance Reviews for employees.

  • Computer literate: Printing tickets, UPS Worldship, IBM's AS/400 data management system, MS Office Suite, email, internet navigation.

  • Experience driving a forklift MUST be previously certified.

  • Desired Competencies and Characteristics: strong work ethic; technical capacity; leadership; learning orientation; performance management; communication proficiency; teamwork orientation; ethical conduct; collaboration; safety conscious; attention to detail; flexibility with job duties; professional appearance.

  • Interest in growing with Grimco potential overtime hours, etc.

This position is responsible for supporting the sales efforts at a Sherwin-Williams paint store, servicing wholesale and retail customers.
