This position will be located in Gulf Power's Eastern District which includes the Panama City, Panama City Beach, and Chipley Offices. It will be filled as a Distribution Engineer (level 03-06), depending on the education and experience of the successful candidate.
The Distribution Engineer is primarily accountable for the preparation of overhead and underground work orders to provide service to new customers and maintenance to the distribution facilities. The incumbent's responsibilities will include preparation of cost estimates for subdivisions, commercial projects and county/city road projects in a timely manner while satisfying our customers and adhering to Gulf Power's construction specifications, policies, and procedures. Individuals must possess strong project management and communication skills as they will assist in scheduling jobs for construction to meet committed service dates, responding to customer inquiries (e.g. voltage concerns, outage questions, etc.,) and assisting with asset management programs. Additionally, the incumbent will prepare work orders associated with budgeted work items such as new feeders, reconductors, large underground subdivisions, regulators, reclosers and other reliability improvements. This position requires the use of personal vehicle with reimbursement through the Employee Provided Vehicle (EPV) program.
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering field required; Electrical Engineering preferred; other engineering disciplines considered
Knowledge of or ability to learn the distribution system, specifications, materials, polices, procedures, bulletins, NEC, and NESC
Working knowledge of various computer applications routinely used in Power Delivery including, but not limited to: JETS, Socket, CSS, Microsoft Office applications, PowerPlan, TCMS and AutoCad
Knowledge of or ability to learn distribution construction practices.
Excellent communication skills both written and oral
Requires extensive knowledge of the distribution system, specifications, materials, polices, procedures, bulletins, NEC and NESC
Storm restoration experience preferred
Strong organizational skills
Ability to build strong working relationship with area Construction Supervisors, Crews, Customer Service, and Sales and Marketing

Must have a valid driver's license; position requires the use of a personal vehicle for fieldwork and travel with mileage reimbursement. The position requires the individual to be on-call, and available to assist with service restoration activities on system and off system. Some overnight travel may be required.
Must currently live in or be willing to relocate to the Panama City, FL area. Relocation assistance available.
