Duties

Prepare a variety of complex technical drawings, specifications or electrical systems, to ensure installation and operations conform to standards including one-lines, connection diagrams, power pole designs, evaluation guidelines, electrical equipment procurement, bill of quantities, and construction record drawings for both above ground and underground distribution design. Operate computer-assisted engineering or design software or equipment to perform complex calculations such as AC/DC loading calcs, ampacity calcs, battery duty cycle, battery charger; voltage drop, voltage flicker, conduit sizing, pole loading analysis.

Use software tools including ArcGIS, Pole Foreman, and other estimation tools for material procurement for engineering design. Research, design, implement, maintain distribution equipment both overhead and underground facilities such as poles, transformers, manholes, reclosers, and capacitor banks. Easement permit and utility coordination for distribution construction.

Mentor young professionals. Provide proposal support with scope of work review, manhour budgets and schedule estimates. Confer with engineers, clients, or others to discuss existing or potential engineering projects or products to provide an engineered solution.

Assign tasks to and coordinate with internal team members. Oversees other Engineers. Provide quality assurance checks for engineering design deliverables and calculations.

Requirements

Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Engineering, or related, plus three years of related distribution engineering experience, or Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Engineering, or related, plus five years of related distribution engineering experience. PE license required.

Must have experience with installation and operations of distribution infrastructure conforming to standards including one-lines, connection diagrams, power pole designs, evaluation guidelines, electrical equipment procurement, bill of quantities, and construction record drawings for both above ground and underground distribution design. Must have experience with quality assurance checks for relevant engineering design and calculations. Must have experience with ArcGIS, AutoCAD, Pole Foreman, and estimation tools for labor hours and material determination.

Must have experience with proposal scope of work review, manhour budgets and schedule estimates. Must also have experience working with ROW (Right Of Way) clearance and land management system for easements/permit requirement. National travel required (40%). Telecommuting is permissible within a reasonable commuting distance from the Atlanta, GA office.

Must have good written and verbal communications skills in English.
